[OT] Buying a new computer

Four separate deliveries. Most of the gubbins from amazon directly, two others for some bits and a third from Scan (GFX).

Edit: Just checked my amazon account. Last package is listed as prepping for dispatch.
Estimated delivery... Friday - Tuesday.

Also, the case is massive and fucking heavy. Seriously, it weighs more than my current comp with all the bits in.

You can still start putting it all together, mount the mobo and components.
Put the SSD in the rack, put the DVD-RW in.

You'll just get to look forward to the hellish pain that is cable management.

Damn good move. Check the GPU itself for a small switch. If it has one, flip it. This will set it to performance mode.

In reality, it will just up the max fan RPM, and allow it to run cooler.

My R9 290X has it, but not sure about the 280X.

The 290X fan is capped at 45%. Flipping said switch ups it to 60%. Of course, if you can cope with the decibels of a train in your room, by all means up it to 100% if you're battering it using Afterburner.

Pink is actually very appeasing to the eye with the anthracite background color, calm to read and to the mind. Guess a pastel pink should be default color for Brainport, to cool the heads there. Can't take anything as an insult if its written in pink after all...

PSU package finally made it to dispatched status on amazon this evening, despite estimated dispatch date being the 4-5th of Feb.

That's the exact same thing I muttered to myself when reading through the updates.

Biggest price difference between 280x and 290 was 100 bucks but smallest was 20 bucks, depending on the manufacturer and model...

So yeah, throwing so much money on the pc you might want invest into longevity as well...
