You can't tell me that you get accidentally to a minus SL value. You will have to be either completely stupid or you WANT to have low SL.
i think you can get into -SL when leveling or someone wants you to. i remember back in 2.0 there were people in the chaos cave stealhing into you fire, then when you drop SL they came in and tried to kill you. nabbl why do i tell you this. you played this game longer then most of us

another point made by strife i think. that this change encourages griefing to some extend and only punishes players who actually care about SL.

and again i have to say (in NC terms: cry) about the fact that SL changes make no sense when someone can just log to a different character, kill you, come back with main character and say "hi". what the SL changes really do is encouraging players to level up another account and not following intended gameplay ie. staying true to a clan or faction and living with consequences.

right, sorry my mistake. 10 is still not very high. so if you take out your le and get ganked the party who killed you suffers almost no sl los. on the other hand it somewhat diminishes the chance, that someone simply creates a char to grief you to low -sl by suiciding into your line of fire. you will at least have to do some missions beforehand. maybe the solution is simply not to take out the le until you reach a comfortable sl.

then what? never loosing any SL by killing someone on your faction/alliance who called you asshole ?
i wouldn't take the LE out in the first place.

    edit:

no no. why would you have to make a new one? take the one with 100 sl, strip him nacked. only tl10 stealthtool and there you go. you only get SI and pay the genrep fee when you die. genrep to CRP and repeat.

Oh my, thanks for those numbers, I've waiting for ages to get some like these. I knew it wasn't like in the old times were a single kill dropped you to negatives, but that its that forgiving... there really shouldn't be an issue about going red "accidently" that way. Plus there was something about needing 15% damage to the killed one before -SL is applied?
I'd still like the rules stated somewhere, but that sounds very okay to me, nowhere near a point where you suddenly find yourself on the most wanted list without many warnings (SL drops), and chances to recover.
    I may not agree
with what you have to say,
but I'll defend to the death
    your right to say it!

    Moep.

    Big horn here.

We are not back in 2.0 anymore. Try it out yourself. SL drop ist not that big but nevertheless you have to be careful who you kill.
But it is not like it was 5 years ago. You are not at negative SL just because you kill one guy.

This is still in place. Hitting one shot won't give you negative SL.

Something I want to mention here on my own behalf.

It seems to be a clear issue that most of the people arguing in here don't even know the facts. They played years ago and didn't kill any friendly runner since then just because they had their LE in or whatsoever.
If you don't know whats exactly going on why don't you just test it? (testserver...).
The Devs clearly thought about that whole issue long enough. Do you really think they are not aware of possible exploit chances?

    Once and for all:
Soullight loss depends on the Sector you are in: Pepper Park and other outer city zones give no SL loss when killing neutral runners. There is a small SL loss when killing friendly runners. Killing Allies in City Sektors just like Plaza2 provides you with a heavy SL loss. You should clearly not kill anybody except red guys in here.
Zones like Regants Legacy or Regants Lab have near to no SL loss. It is a high level cave so you should be careful down there. Other Level Spots are treated a bit harsher.
You always get that info when you sync into a zone.
you Soullight Loss also depends on the Soullight of other people. When they have a high soullight you will lose more. Do they have low Soullight you do not lose that much. When they have negative Soullight you won't lose anything at all.

    Read my above posts.

Most probably he had high SL and you were fighting in a city sector.

Accidental SL loss is from killing players with very high SL - not /3 newbies.
In fact, I'd say most of my 'Oh Shit' loss of SL is from killing members of your own Clan Nabbl, and also Faid's.

I think like I had mentioned before, there should be no SL loss for defending one's self - would stop my concerns about the SL changes.

Technically, these things all changed at the same time. We were just a little bit tardy announcing the content changes.
