I had that issue with my older comp, with the configure window minimizing to nothing after i clicked it. It was fixed after I updated the c++ redistributables. I also had to delete the models.tmp file in the neocron folder in order to get past the char selection screen using dx9.

She did do the updates following the links provided... She can't even get into the character selection screen it just tanks... I am not sure if anything else is running after updating the redistributable that is my old computer.... She had this problem when she started playing because I had her on a limited user account... I have since upgraded her to (Gasp) admin and it ran fine.... Maybe somethingis going on with that I will check into it in alittle while I have basically left her alone to whine about it LOL... runs fine here now that the mysterious login problem disappeared...

Ok so in an attempt to make sure she did everything correctly I redid it... Directx did not need to be updated (I did anyway) It has been rocking directx 9c forever... On that machine I can play alot of modern games so it is not the hardware... However she indeed does have issues configuring the hardware because it just tanks and I tried to login to play and it just hangs and doesn't appear to try to connect to the server...

My machine right now was trying to patch #176 (which I am not sure why seeing as how we were talking about a roll back not another step forward) and it just started hanging half way through..... and obviously there is no patch because it says it can not find cp000176 on ftp.neocron.com

Just read in the rollback thread the server was being shutdown for a hot fix and the roll back.

On the machine you're having issues at the character screen with (once the server is back up that is), trying running the client.exe with the following argument.
<game install location>\client.exe -precache
That should force it to rebuild the cache/models etc and hopefully fix the issue.
I think there is also a way to enable this through editing the neocron.ini file aswell.

All sectors, except appartments, have been reset, therefore it will usually need some time until NPCs respawn (up to 10 minutes!). Please be patient!

Technical changes
Implemented a fallback inside the D3D9 driver, older cards should work again
Enlarged horizontal field of view to 110 degrees
Fixed several possible reasons for server crashes
Fixed issues with the netcode causing packet loss

Gameplay changes
Fixed issues with terminal missions in several HQs

So woot this is some good news. Rollback happen and they added the fix for you guys with the older cards. They also did some major tweaks to the netcode and sending in more packets and meaning it should give us a more smoother gameplay experience in PVP and PVE.

This is like frigan Christmas. And as much as there was some nasty issues with the patch but then again this be a lesson that we should help test more on the test server but they also are learning from a very old complex source code. Overtime things will only get better rather then worse.

Anyways I can't wait for the next Patch if think patches will become more of an often thing again even to fix minor bugs and such!

I was just able to play before the server went down for the roll back, but now I cant even login. I press enter and it goes to connecting to server, then it jumps right back to the enter screen...

Anyone else having this probelm or other problems trying to login?

Server is not even online for the public yet.
