nr2.. like that slotted PE that was second to go don't know if you would have been there already. but hell i would like to know the stats of the thing or only the con of it.. if they don't tell the stats i gonna sell my /89 con pe next time lol. joked to somebody else in dm.. congratz you just bought a 1/2 con pe for a few million

nr3.. nope afaik they din't even trow out the spammer but he left after a while on his own cause he went op warring or pking of whatever. and somebody else was spamming like mad to ( imho ) but putting him on ignore helped+ having all local muted helped a bit keeping it clear.

nr4.. agree with you there.. 1 a char is ok. i log my chars out in my apps or op ug or fa hq anyway so have terms near werever i log

    1. It's not spam, a single mail with useful info in it.
Bullshit. On one of my not-left-MC5 chars It's FIVE mails in my character's inbox, all which list a day and time, but no DATE. That's not even REMOTELY useful to me. Nevermind the fact that I don't do the whole "auction" thing.
    2. Heavy has spent a fair bit of his time getting this sorted,
There are mechanisms available in-game for broadcasting information, namely the in-game forums. As you have to go to a #@$! term to read your mail ANYWAY, there's no reason those interested in auctions can't do the same thing.
and surely it doesn't take 5 seconds to goto a city term and delete a mail.
What did I just get done saying? There is no "delete all". There is no "mark all as read". The only way to delete messages is to read each one, one at a time. Add to that the 30 second minimum cycle time between characters, and I'm looking at wasting upwards of 8-10 minutes JUST to get rid of in-game spam.
It really isn't heavy's fault you have 16 chars which each receive the mail.
But it is his fault for relying on a unicast mechanism of message delivery when there are proper broadcast mechanisms available. Because it works to sell viagra and cialis does not mean it should be used to advertise auctions in Neocron.

ya also got them wooden thingies with a black carbon innerbody that do like the same thing but you can erase em later and it doesnt have a little ball at the end and they dont got sumthing to attach it to youre vest so when you put em on a table they roll away things hé !

and with the first one you can write on youre hand but with the second one its harder yeah !

and them wooden things i like to bite on em at the back and them plastic things you also have them where you have to put em in a little container of ink and then you can scribble with em, yust as they got em with a little metal horizontal edge and with a inkreserve build in in an even smaller plastic inkcontainer that you can remove and put back in that write's them nice long curvy letters yah !

    owyeah ! i remember those

and ya dont even need a keyboard to operate em ! person that invented these is a genious

neocron mail has always been dodgy, i mean back in NC1 you would read them but it didnt show as red, i walked around with 100s of mails flashing in the corner.

    plus makes you look popular

We're talking about PLAYERS with all kinds of items. Trying to handle all that shit just so people have a nice, cute, formatted list and a cute little numbered sign to raise every time they want to bid another cute little 5k...

    Getting my drift?

I'm sure, in a RL, fully professional auction, we'd be obligated to give the audience every last scrap of info, useful or not, and trot out experts after experts to verify the authencity of items.

This is NOT a professional auction. It's an event to get players online and together, to have time together, to let everyone unload stuff at bargain or higher-than-normal prices, to let everyone get a real chance to get something they needed but couldn't get because they weren't on at the same time as the seller.

And the email system. Honestly, get real. I'm amazed they put in an auto-email system to announce events. You're not obligated to cycle through every character just to delete one email each.

No i dont get your drift. What does this being a game have to do with the auction not being ran better.

The is no reason someone can't sit down and compile a list of what is going to be auctioned off. Oh wait nevermind they don't even post in the event forums anymore i guess that is asking to much.

Well, people want info, and if they don't give it out, there won't be much people coming to these "events" anymore, so... I don't see why the auctioneer can't just post some info, it wouldn't take too damn long...

Oh, yes, it'd take forever. Trust me - it's not a ride in the park, running an auction and trying to rope up sellers.

It's not one person sitting down and compiling data.

It's that one person waiting on 10+ people to email him any damn info about whenther or not they're EVEN coming. Oftentimes, the only time that auctioneer finds out what's gonna be for sale is 5 minutes before the auction.

But more often, it's a running job - continously taking items, checking their infos and running off into zone chat the info.

I'll agree with you on it being a running job as something your not going to do in a few days.
