    Default Newcomer here!

    Greetings

Just started playing last night and haven't exactly gotten much around, however I'm currently on the task of Killing a "Kyle Barnes" and I did find him along with his body guards.
Now only problem is that the body guards and Kyle himself respawns shortly after killing them so I dunno if I'm just supposed to leave the 'shooting gallery' once I've killed Kyle and X amount of Body guards??

Oh and if any of y'all would be kind enough to tell me what I should be doing as a Spy/Assassin? Jack up rifle skill or should I spend my points towards something else perhaps?
Where should I go to get a better gun and Ammo?

    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind Figured out that you can just go and turn it in once you killed Kyle once I guess(?)

Just grinding critters in the sewers for now, seems to be easy doug' and XP.

    Hello there!
Unless task says otherwise, most of cases if mission says to kill specific npc you need to kill it only once. It respawns quickly so pick it from distance.

    Some tips:
-Use techhaven.org as source of knowledge.
-Never buy ammo, medpacks, drugs in greater quantities. Buy one pack, get some points in recycle (around 30, TL of the item). Using recycle tool, you are able to clone consumables and ammo from junk.
-Weapons bought from stores beside drones have very low quality. Buy it and ask for researcher to make BP from it then conster to build it. Weapons built by players deal much more damage and fire faster than stock ones. Armor dont need to be crafted. Starter weapons can be recycled (mendicant rifle, smg, street rifle, junk knife, nail pistol).
-Unless you want specifically spec for low tech rifles (street, assault, pumpguns, gatlin) invest points into tech combat too. In intelligence, invest into weapon lore, skill that influence aiming reticule closing speed and Implant, that will allow you to self poke basic implants.
-If you make mistakes or simply try something different in build setups, use LOM pills, that refund skill points at cost of XP. Do not allow XP drop below zero, because you wont get points back and main stat will decrease.
-To be completely self-sufficent, that would help when playing on low pop times like now, make one dedicated combat char, one research/recycle and one construction/repair char. Item transfer between characters can be tricky, but its doable (ditch item into lone container of choice and relog praising that no curious player would pick it up)
-You rather wont need to use vehicles very often, but I suggest making one char as driver starter class, do Jones missions for free vehicle then delete. Its very popular choice, quad is very fast and indestructible compared to other vehicles (Epic run for Next faction also give indestructible one)

    As for spy char:
Its fragile, wont survive a lot of damage, specialise in rifles or pistols. Rifles have longest range from all weapons, pistols have nice rate of fire and dont require high skill levels. Of course you could use all weapon types, but it would be waste because of main skill caps. Spys can use basic psi spells, I suggest investing into PPU for healing, shielding and damage boost spells. They are basically free to cast in comparison to nanites "ammo"

Think I'll be fine for a good while since I stumbled upon Mogly who set me up with some 'dank' weaponry, grinding Captain Aggressors a whole bunch. (currently at 22/15)

How is it with skills? maximum is 100? Any specific build(s) out there for Spy/Assassin characters?

Not quite. Main Attributes have soft caps depending on your class, meaning they can be exceeded with implants etc.

Subskills got a realtive achievable limit, depending on the max Level of their respective Mainskill category.

Right having spent a day or so grinding through them "launchers" outside the military base had me come up with some more questions of mine:

There's that sweet lookin' Rhino tank but it would seem that if you were to actually use the guns on it, you need to meet it's STR requirements which well goes well past the maximum STR of a SPY character.
If so I would like to know before I bother thinking about getting that ride at around 704K NC.

Then there's the PA (power armor??) and "holo-vests", what's the difference between the two? Just differnt stats or are one of the two 'superior' over the other?

Lastly could I potentially obtain some of those guns related to the "WoC" stuff over at the Ceres temple?
Like is it really merely a question about having 1-2 million NC and 2 million(?) experience points in DEX/INT + having completed the "epic quest/mission" for your current faction? It's not like you have to go out to say the Dome of york with a group to get the actual "discs"???

    Thank y'all in advance.

PS: By the way when I ask about a certain build etc. I mean if there's for instance any reason to go beyond 115 points in rifles or whatever the "end game" rifles require?
Also I do get that the 'stats' has a limit but things like rifles, recycle, vehicle etc. has no limit or what?

Yes. Apparently even in the 28th century you need to be a Bodybuilder to operate tank guns...

Well Holo-Vests are Special in their own way. PAs basically where supposed to give you lots of armor and some combat buff, on any class. Holo-Vests are a Spy only novelty, despite their lables. What they do is conceil your class by giving you a different appearance. E.g. they make you LOOK like a Monk or Tank. However they are quite buggy so they are mainly worn for their resist buffs and low malus on movement speed.

The Temple of Ceres only unlocks your Wisdom of Ceres Level, which is a user requirement for the weaposn and items like WoC PAs.
The gusn are obtained via quest and some farming. Or purchased from Players.

Uhm... i recall that some skills have more Impact on your guns Performance then others, not about the Details tho and in how far this is going to Change in the future if I look at the recent Patches to the Test Server...

I DO know however that trade skills, like implanting, Recycling etc. have a hard ceiling, so they are merely a requirement skill to use/produce. The only exception would be construction here I think...

The more points you have in a weapon skill the better, general rule of thumb is more points = more damage, so its not unusual for a PVP build to have say 160-180 + points in a weapon skill - note that other factors play in weapon damage/frequency/aiming such as weapon lore and Hightech combat.

DIS is absolutely correct about putting all your points into the skills for combat, and that link that explains damage %s is invaluable.

My melee tank has 250 MC and every single INT point in weapon lore. It's hard to squeeze the damage out of your weapons, but it is worth it. Back in the day weapons had skill caps, and once you hit the cap you could spend points elsewhere, this meant that more combat characters had hacking, implant, etc; I miss those days, but too bad for us, dump them all in combat.

I didn't see anyone answer your question about WoC. You need 260 million dex XP to get WoC on your spy. This is brutal to complete unless you're a droner or teamed with a droner at the best leveling spots in the game (Regants). I wouldn't worry about WoC right now.

    Groovy.

Now I haven't really been using any implants although I do see/understand that they're basically a means to 'upgrade' your character although with some side effects (less endurance etc.) so where would I get implants that are good?
Any vendors who actually sell good implants or is it all restricted to them warbots which I'm in no position right now to deal with!

Also my "Gatlin rifle" breaks really quick compared to the previous weapons I've used which were all high-tech rifles (lasers etc.) I feel I'll need someone to repair it every 2-3 hours of grinding launchers so I dunno if I'm 'doing it wrong' or what?

PS: How do I re-install the law enforcer implant??? it says that my skill rating(?) is too high so do I need a "poker" to install it for me now? or is it just a 'mechanism' in the game where after reaching a certain level then you don't get to be 'safe' from gankers etc.?
Also how the heck do I see how many mods(?) there is on a gun???? I see laser pointer, silencer etc. but having installed a rifle barrel mod(?) on my gatlin rifle doesn't seem to show up although I do see the increased effects of the upgrade.

Would also like to know how you're 'supposed' to level a crafting character? Do you actually make use of the crafting missions or do you just do it the way I've been doing it with my spy/assassin character?

You can buy basic implants at Cryton's (top floor up lift in Plaza 1, or near GR in Pepper Park 3). Level 2 implants are sold at Point Red in the Wasteland. Level 3 implants come from different faction supply managers (requiring high sympathy with that faction). Rare implants come from random tech parts that drop off high level mobs in the Wasteland.

Do not put points in implant. You need to find another player to "poke" the implant into you; usually in Plaza 1, or you can ask on NC-Trade chat. You will need implant disinfection gel from Cryton's for anything above the most basic implants; buy the "big" pack and save yourself money in the long run.

Weapons lose durability based on how often they fire, so faster weapons break quicker. The more slots a weapon has, the less likely it is to lose durability.

When I recently did this he was on the Supply Depot floor (5th floor?) chatting to one of the barkeepers. The npc is random though so won't necessarily be the same.

    Worth checking out though.

I figured it out, apparently epic quests in general(?) have a bug where it'll not 'register' the whole "find person X at Y location".
Had to abort the epic quest and do it all from the start, worked like a charm and talked to the fella and finished the epic quest.

Met another really REALLY generous fellow Chux/Lolerei(?) set me up with a level 3(?) dex implant so I could equip that 80 dex spy PA and gave me a friggin' over-the-top enhanced plasma rifle so now I'm shakin' my boots while running down 'em corridors out at regants, damn that place is creepy as all hell.
Definitely has that atmosphere of 'dark experiment gone horribly wrong'!

Anyway tried to make a new character for crafting, I hear the easiest way to 'go about it' is if you just make a droner and go level up your skills to max + 20 million (for 'em LOMs) and just use LOMs to 'respec' for crafting.
But whenever I try to kill something with any of my drones it doesn't do a single point of damage even if I'm right next to my character so I don't think it's because I'm 'out of range' that's the issue here.

Right so been a while and I've more or less 'settled' in (been workin' on getting a 'capped' researcher) however one thing still remains which I do have an interest in: Clan apartments.

Now I get the point that you get a clan apartment under a specific faction be it NExT or Fallen angels whatever, but does that mean if I were to say go get one and invite someone, would they need to be a member of that same faction or is it 'acceptable' for them to be allied or perhaps even neutral to the faction in which the clan apartment belongs to in order to be granted 'access'??
