    Default Unable to play

    So, I recently installed Neocron 2. Never played the game before, playing it now because of a friends recommendation. So, yes I'm new to the community, "Hi everybody."

    Now to the issue I'm having. I fully installed the game and downloaded the patches. When I click "Play Neocron 2" the game attempts to start up and I get a momentary black window pop up before it completely closes down and nothing else happens. I'm no computer expert but it looks like the game is crashing upon the start up attempt. I'm able to open the launcher and do all the stuff there, but it crashes as soon as the main game tries to start up. I've already tried running the game in compatibility mode, but that didn't work. Any and all help would be appreciated.

    System Specs:
    Intel Core i7-4700
    Intel HD Graphics 4600
    8GB RAM

    Can I check you're using the latest installer from www.neocron-game.com?

    After a crash, go into the Logs folder within the game directory, and look at the error.log. Can you paste the contents, and the D3D9Drv.log?

    Just went and uninstalled all my drivers and reinstalled the newest ones to be safe. Still getting the crash.

    When you went through the installer, did everything install successfully, including the x86 Runtime distributables?

    I believe so. I didn't get any errors while it installed. I also ran the "Check File Integrity" option in the launcher, and a got a green light from that. I can try a fresh install though.

    Uninstalled and reinstalled. Still getting the same crash.

    Hello,

    try to reinstall the DirectX Setup which you can find in the Redist folder of your Neocron client. If this isn't working for you search the forums for an "Optimus Fix" with a little luck this fix will still work with your hardware.

    Update: Found the fix.

    I read through that thread, and this is the same problem I'm having to a T. I tried the fix and it said Neocron should be recognizing my GPU now, but I'm still getting a black screen crash. I'm going to chalk this up to my own computer illiteracy and assume I just extracted the fix to the wrong file. When you say "extract to the Neocron game path" do you mean the first major folder named "Neocron 2.2 CE" or one of the many sub-folders contained in that folder?

    I mean the same level as client.exe. Try to start the client.exe directly then.

    Huh... starting the client directly works, but going through the launcher does not. Weird. Well, at least the game is finally playable. Thank you, with such a helpful community I can see why my friend recommended the game.
