tbh, thats ur punishment for playing WoW.

I gotta agree with DJ here.
if you're feeling weak(er than normal).. should you be playing a WoW Marathon? with barely no breaks?

And another thing.. don't you have a frigging reallife? geez.. I love games but when it comes to reallife or NC Marathon back in the days when NC was interesting... I'd still choose rl over marathon.

The online Funeral.... looks nice but wtf? why hold a funeral online?
(bet if it were NC some clan wouldve went there and PKed everyone, mass funeral)

Obsession in all forms is bad, you see it all the time in everything not just games. Alot of our society is ok with it but it's really just another form of addiction.

Ultimately it's down to how addictive the personality of the gamer is.

All games by law carry a warning in the instruction manual, stating that you should take a 20 minute break every hour of playing (or something similar, can't remember the exact figure); perhaps said warning should be made clearer.

On a side note, lets make sure this thread stays tasteful.
I know from several different things that I don´t have an addictive personality.

I just shift my priorities around according to what I want to do...

If I know, I have a few days off, I could decide to dedicate them to a game, to really get some things done.

I might even do it without sleeping at all for a couple of days, as long as you have something that thrills you or keeps you excited, you don´t have to sleep, and you won´t feel tired at any time (personal best is 8 days no sleep (during my insomnia period )).

But to go without food or drinking is just plain stupid.. it doesn´t take ages to go get something to drink or eat, you can even sit with it whilst you are playing at a barely reduced rate of gameplay.

You can´t help but noticing that you are thirsty.. hunger you can just push away, the human body doesnt need a lot to stay alive when it comes to food.. but without aynthing to drink.. your body gives you so many warnings on so many levels that you can´t avoid noticing it.

My point is, there is no chance in any way that the girl didn´t notice something was wrong.. She must have simply ignored it somehow.

It makes you wonder though.... rather nasty thing to think about really..

But... if she didn´t take her time to, eat, drink or sleep or anything else...

Didn´t she take time to go to the toilet either?, I mean if she didn't... it would be quite a mess.. not to mention the smell...

    I just read the scan...

Girl (Snowly) dies... <-- (noticed she as exhausted, why didn´t she do anything?)

    A few weeks later...

Boy (Thereafter) dies of similar circumstances as the girl..

    EDIT:

All games by law carry a warning in the instruction manual, stating that you should take a 20 minute break every hour of playing
There was a game i played at some point, cant remember which, actually gave you a system message after an hour or two, saying perhaps you should take a break..

I was just like what the feck are you talking about game! used to playing several hours at a time.

Nowadays 80 million people are playing MMORPGs permanently.

A girl dies because she didnt want to eat, to drink nor to sleep.

Seriously, it is her own fault to play into madness, not the fault of the game company or whatsoever.

Instead of online gaming I could die too, if I would run marathon for lets say 60 hours without drinking and eating... or die on homebuilding 60 hours without drink and food etc... or making sex 60 hours without drink and food...

it is the same with EVERYTHING you do: too much of it is unhealthly, point.

and if you really think smart about the article, it is a hidden propaganda too, but I doubt that the most people believe me now.

So you´re saying you think World of Warcraft can turn it to their advantage?

2 people are dead from being obsessed with the game, couldn´t let it go, and that would in some peoples head be equal to damn good game.

And then they could attract more customers by the fact that 2 people liked it so much that they died from it...

I can see the sick logic in it... and I wouldn´t be the least surprised if it actually happened....

I think the longest Ive ever played NC for was 16 hours straight (with short breaks for food and stuff). Havent done it since NC1 though.

I know the idea of an online funeral for someone may sound lame to you.. but maybe that was the only way her online friends had to say goodbye to her.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldnt want to live there!

well, there was an online tribute to a dude that died playing ps...so online funeral stuff is getting more common

longest ive ever played a game straight was probably a 10 hour halofest, but online games have never had me awake for days.

theres no way in hell something so trivial as a game could keep me from my pillows, isnt much that stands between me and my pillows

...or WoW should increase the time you need to cap your character so maybe the crazy girl wouldnt even try to play 3 days long. We all dont know why she was playing 3 days, but I assume that she wanted to try to cap.
From what I ve heard from friends is that you "only" need like 2 weeks to cap your character in WoW (work, food n drink, sex, normal life, included!). So a maniac could cap it in maybe one week ?? I dunno...

Well at least it is a sad story
