yeah, i know but it's for another project of mine... the good thing is IF kk is interested to use the Xreal project i'm pretty fine with it but the only requirement is to have a linux dev envirement and compile a linux client. the Xreal engine use make files and Scons. but the network frame work should be redone and the colision detection must be re-writed (in fact just implement bullet physics)
KK will never switch the way NC is made and run. it may change over time if BP gets a lot of money and they can afford to hire more devs to work on NC again (and If they start hiring, i'll send them a new copy of my CV and skills).
Just remember though guys, that even if we produce this NC2 content we can't release it commercially (or for free) because it's legally theirs. So I personaly will only be using it/distributing to friends for testing purposes.
And trust me, buying the rights for neocron would be very expensive...
hmmm, the content that the FAN create is owned by the fan, it might look like the original but it's not the same. So i don't think that the content is actually KK owned. Ofc i might be wrong, but it's how i see it.
yup .. in Germany we have the the term "Schöpfungshöhe" (lousy translation: threshold of originality).
as long as you dont copy (technically copy) data from KK there is little risk in terms of legal aftermath. ;)
yea, i know.. it's basically fan work.
what i meant was infringement of IPR (intellectual property rights) by creating the whole game in HL2 and releasing it to the public and/or charging money for it.
well if you charge for the game it's an IPR's infringement for sure. But if you release it for free there no such infringement at all. They might ban you because of releasing a game based on theirs, they can send you some "cease and desist" mails.
Respect! When you said 'you hadn't done much' I expected nothing more but an untextured stair maybe, but this really surprised me! Keep it up and I can't wait to actually see some daylight out that door!Quote:

BlackMaze bows down to WhiteKraKRBOi.
[EDIT]
Put up some high-res screenies here for us to see!
if they were gonna send us cease and desist letters it would've happened by now...
also, all the HL2 maps for single player can be made to go multiplayer, just need some more spawn points and reference markers and you'd be set..
that would mean KK actually read these forums :PQuote:

BTW Biglines, I have your boots from your belt from the BYB run....
DM me if you want them back.
GMs aren't eligible to do such thing like mailing for a cease and desist document. Only advocate or similar kind of profession can do that. 'coz it's a legal mater.
I’m sure this thread was originally for a fan project ;) there have been numerous Source powered maps that have made it to some degree of completion over the years. If you step over any boundaries in relation to Intellectual Property rights or copyright infringement I’m sure management will let you know.
However for any details of your Source maps please refrain from using the name 'Neocron 3' or 'NC3', Reakktor might want that themselves in the future!
For now though, let’s get back to the discussion of this fan map and how it was created.
Cheers,
We do read them but there's nothing particularly alarming about this thread. :pQuote:

I've seen a few over the years posted on these and other forums but sadly it rarely reaches the latter stages. Don't get me wrong, I, like so many others on this forum, would love to see a completed version.Quote:
