So to get massively-multiplayer online game players now you must make a game free to play.
People want to watch the first game free.
And if it pleases them, then they also buy like crazy in the Item Shop.
You could put friction rings (
washers) in the item shop in the beta, and people would still buy them. This happened in the
APB beta eg Sun. Even in the beta time when there was the item shop, people bought weapons / vehicles like crazy.
What you absolutely need to make sure remains pure is the ability to design the Character for free, and the clothes. But then you can sell in the item shop special symbols / fonts etc. that other people cannot get.
Of course you the unboosted drop rate should stay at the current level ingame. I remember the discussion about the fact that in BP the drops were deliberately reduced, in order for it to be "necessary" for the player to buy boosters.
Another idea: Belt-insurance, when belt is dropped they cannot be used? Make sense? It doesn't matter for me, but it would be safer for the LE hardliners among us whom for PVP is a no-go, and encourage them to try PVP where they would not otherwise.
Also: Vehicles - There is the question again whether it would be that Combat Vehicles would be affecting balance and thus fall under Pay 2 Win. But for example, faster / indestructible versions of non-combat vehicles could be acceptable.
