What i would like to see in NC3:
Base of game:
.Stable net code and fast servers
-Things have improved so much in 10 years. i can download at 5-100Mbps with fiber connection, even ADSL has a 1-20Mbps stable connection. Also processing power of computers nowadays are alot higher overall which allows for much better connection as well. I'm sure you can do this right.
.Updated engine
- It doesn't need to be CryEngine, Unity would do fine for example. But keep the same mood and gritty feel of NC2, that's one of the things that makes it so special.
- Earthrise for example looks too clean and just about same as every other game around graphics wise. As long as it looks up to date, it doesn't need to be the most pretty. It just needs to be rock solid functional.
- Consider the upgradability of the engine itself. Does it reach many platforms? Does it have a big community of users and developers? Those things matter.
.A modular code system that allows for easy patching and content to be introduced or removed!
-I guess that's one of the big problems with NC and probably most games that have poor building blocks. When you patch to fix 1 thing you end up screwing 2 more, which leads to a path of frustration.
-Content such as new classes, new weapons, new enemies, new areas.
Also being able to remove content without needing to code an entire game again.
-Build it so that if new Devs comes into the team they will understand what is what and how to change without ruining what's already done. Easier said then done i know, but sometimes it's as easy as adding detailed comments to the code as you go along. Everyone's logic is different, but when explained it's easier to understand.
.Using user generated content.
-It's as easy as releasing a construction kit so that content is easily implemented once approved.
-The fans can provide so much content if they are given the opportunity. Contests with special items or appartments as prizes for the best content. Even without prizes we will still do it. I know i have in the past for other games and i had plenty of fun doing it.
.Expansions are a cliché, but they work (downloadable)
-More then a patch, an expansion would be a good way to introduce new areas to the game with new challenges and give the capped players a new goal. It's cheesy to use this example, but WoW keeps releasing them and players keep getting them...
.Use anti-cheating software
nuff said.
Game mechanics and ingame content:
.Use what you have, but improve the good and ditch the bad
Mazes
-Seriously, i'm good with mazes and i have a good sense of orientation, but DOY? Industrial Area? I'm always lost there. It's frustrating and annoying to navigate there, these are two examples of areas i think are overdone and suck overall.
Sectors
-The sector system division is interesting and i bet that at the time the game was made allowed for easier control of data with the servers etc. But it really is dumb changing a sector and get killed the next second because on the edge of it is a spawn of grimm's, hoverbombers or whatnot.
-Maybe keep the sector division grid on the map but instead of a synch, let a message glow in the screen saying you've entered said sector.
I know it's doable. Do it!
Items and droprates
-There are already plenty of grind games out there.
One of the things i loved in this game was warbot hunting for techs and now it's just not fun anymore since the droprate is so low.
-Just don't go that way in NC3, just improve the modding system (which is a really good idea and feature of the game.) so that even making 100's of rares still won't get you the best item possible.
Synaptic impairment
-Yeah i love this feature. And i hate it too. As most of us do i'm sure. Perhaps it needs to be faster? Cumulative yes, but waiting for minutes on end is just silly.
PvE, Aggro and AI
-In NC i'm a PvE kind of player, mostly because i hate cheats and i hate losing too (sex) :D. But as a PvE player i think that NC lacks PvE content.
-Make NC3 in a way that allows a single player to have dungeons he can go to that don't require exploiting but still provide a challenge and good rewards.
-I've never got to play teams hardcore on NC, but i've done so on other games and it's freaking amazing how it can be if the AI and aggro system works well. Maybe NC worked that in the past, i dunno, now with the bad netcode i'm sure it doesn't.
Appartments, compartments, and storage
- Ability to label the containers and have more stuff on the main storage.
- Better organization of the inventory - tabs, auto arrange, etc.

I never realized this would be such a long post. I have more i want to say, but it's getting long and i'm getting tired x).
