NC:BDoY - Official Release Date

holy crap. finally made it through all 34 pages (probably be 40 by the time I finish writing this).

I'll wait for BDoY. September seems like a long way off but it'll come up soon enough. I can afford the ~$.30 an hour to play and since I really don't have much of a life away from my wife or this computer, what the hell right? :D

Besides the current game still has alot to offer imo. I've played over a year now and I still haven't seen TG or FA, I'm just getting into a bit of PvP, and I look forward to one day participating in an OP scuffle.

I can't imagine how long it will take me to get through BDoY :D

OT:
I would like to say that with regards to FRE's - a developer/team using the excuse "we never FRE so it must be an issue on the client side (read: paying cutomers)" as an excuse to avoid making it a top priority is imo extremely poor develop attitude.

This community is full of software and hardware experts that would give their left nut to help figure out what is causing the NC client to crash under the current DX version. How else do other distributed software companies troubleshoot their software? They get feedback from the people running their client in the field. Under field conditions. Under varied hardware and software configurations. Come on you guys know this. So why the apparent resistence to letting the community help improve the game stability? Pride? I hope not ... :(

Too Little, Too Late.


I'm not cancelling my accounts yet but there is a very good chance I will go play a real MMORPG, and take my two accounts with me, I know I'm not alone in SXR at least it seems to be the way the wind is swaying.


You can only extend your promises and lies so long before people get tired of all the BS. I'm really sorry that you chose as bad a company as CDV to initally partner with but I fail to see how your bad decisions should influence me to keep giving you more and more chances.


This game has had too many issues and not enough fixes.

Well I avoided this thread for a day or so till the worst of the flaming was done just to save my inbox and blood-pressure from unecessary load. Unfortunately that probably means my comments and questions will be ignored but I'll post them anyway just in case anyone cares....

Delay - This was pretty obviously coming as I (and others) have said many times in the last month or so simply because there's still almost no sign of marketing or press coverage. I'm honestly a little surprised how many vets are still upset when these things slip. If you still haven't come to terms with the way KK work (ie like every single other small company in the world) then you will probably be a lot happier elsewhere.
Beta - Good. I'm glad KK has listened to the community on this one. I would assume (ie I'm guessing) that they will be looking for people who have helped out on the TS a lot or asking FCs and GMs for recommendations. That's how I'd do it anyway. For many of us that means we won't get in (I gave up on TS because of it's faulty procedures) but OTOH it might mean a better beta than just having people wasting their time and sharing info with their mates.
Timing - Really my only complaint here. I wonder if KK are aware how many MMORPGs go into open (or large-scale closed) beta this month. Personally I'm downloading two at the moment, have 2 others installed and there are plenty I don't care for. Being a sceptic I could assume KK have timed it as they have to stop us 6-month-subs people from taking a break but would that really matter to their cash-flow? I can't say.
Database - Personally I see this as potentially the most important technical change in the engine. Can we please get a little info on this? What platform you are going for would be a big help - MSSQL? Oracle? PostgreSQL? Sybase? It might also cheer us techies/geeks up to hear how the new compiler test(s) went a few months back.
MJS - Kudos for staying in this thread so long. Regardless of the rights and wrongs I know I wouldn't have enjoyed reading all that was said if I were in your shoes.
Current NC - Can we please get a clear and honest (pessimistic preferably) statement as to what is going to happen in the interim? I suspect that the staff and time overheads of working on both NC and BDoY are prohibitive and that NC is going to mostly idle because any work done on it will have to be replicated into the developing BDoY code-base. It would only take an hour at most for a dev to list what is and is not going to be seen and might prevent a lot of grief on these boards and in-game.
Accounts - Considering all the other changes we've seen in recent weeks/months can you please confirm the position wrt character/cash/item/apt/etc retention. If there is even a suggestion of a hint of a possibility that any of this stuff will not transfer seamlessly into BDoY we deserve to know now. I would also point to the payment/upgrade thread and suggest some reconsideration there but I'm guessing that we are just going to have to accept that KK can't afford to reward our loyalty as promised so many times.

This game has become boring. I was looking forward to new content in Q2 of this year. Q3 is not what I previously read. Dissapointing...

It's quite a relaxing colour actually although I'm not sure what it says about your personality. Anyway, as long as you don't post anything that breaks the rules (and continue to do so even after repeated warnings) I'm sure you'll be fine.

I only been here for about 3 months, so I really don't blame you for the way you feel.
