well it wasn't the payment that was the reason they said no in the past, it was the contractual aspects. But tbh, the same thing has been proposed for 8 years, almost every month someone proposes the same, and they've regretfully never accepted.
Despite it being mentioned before, the idea is good. When community members would work for free with an NDA and as reward have their name in credits, it would be a great move. The biggest issues with NC atm are cheats and broken subscription system that is illegal in the US.
Its not the subscription system that is the problem but the company. When paypal worked it was fine. Now due to solvency issues etc Paypal withdrew support as far as I know.
It would need to be a case of licensing the game again under Gamigo or whatever as far as I know and then reinstating Paypal from there.
However, look how broken this game is. It has only got worse over time. The community has shrunk to a shade of its former self and the game is played by a handful of people at best. Would you as the CEO of Gamigo want to put your name on a brand like this? From a business point of view? I wouldnt.
I would want a brand new game started from scratch and built from the ground up with a dedicated team of coders/graphic artists/sound editors/play testers working on it monday through to friday for weeks and months to get it right.
An anti cheat patch is currently not economically viable just for the 50 or so people left playing. Lets be real here, if they did get rid of the cheats they would also get rid of half the current population. So yeah.
Op fights 2v2 dont sound like fun to me.
If they are in fact developing a patch to release to "save" the game then all good. With no test server to speak of any more however we have no way of knowing this. With the incredibly limited resources and weekend project in the shed type of deal that Kirk has already eluded to then any new patch is NOT going to be foolproof and the be all and end all. It will bring its own problems and Kirk and the rest of the staff who still love this game as much as the rest of us do will also know that.
Hence why, if they are working on it then they are being silent and cracking on. Why come on here to piss in the wind with a few whinging players when you can be working on something to stop the whinging.... I know what I would do.
Other than that, as previously stated I would estimate that they are attempting to get some form of green light for a new project NC to be developed.
The story line is there, the background is there and the concept art has been detailed.
Shit films get remade in Hollywood all the time. Why not let a decent game get a new lease of life.
Noone here knows what Kirk was in the US of A for, it could have been a jolly to spend the ten euros a month NC still makes or it could have been to speak to potential investors in the game. It could have been anything in between.
The thing is all of this has been said before, repeated, said again, rehashed and then changed slightly and reposted. When Codi left (the original coder - daniel someone i forgot his proper name) a bunch of very respected members of the community came out and said hey we will help recode the game.
KK said thank you but emphatically no. Fair play to them. Its their baby.
All we can do here is preach patience.
As previously said its not like you need Neocron to breathe. Noone here is that addicted. Not these days. Once long ago maybe.... but then we used to take weeks off work to play sometimes and grow beards and sit in our pants for days on end hunched over our keyboards trying to cap our Con... but anyway. I digress.
In short all we need is patience. Shit that hasnt been fixed in 9 years is not gonna get fixed in a day or two, a month or even this year realistically.
People need to chill out, go buy rage or battlefield 3 or cod when it comes out and just chill the fuck out some. Nothing much is gonna happen for a long old while.

If they introduced an anti cheat patch people would come back in droves.
When they last introduced the anticheat patch, people came back in massive gobs but they all left in massive gobs when they pulled the patch and all the cheaters came back.
As things are, the cheating is the single biggest issue keeping the biggest group of players out of the game. Not the payment system, not the balance, not the content or lack of content. Its the cheating.
This game would see a rush of population if an anticheat patch was introduced, even one that only worked for a few days before the hackers got around it.
This is in spite of the account creation issues, this would be a huge rush of former players.
This is, or rather was, a large discussion on the AD forums. The core players would all agree on a daily basis (or primarily when the subject came up) if an anti-cheat patch was finally implemented we would be back on the OP scene faster than Immune can ninja CRP ^^Quote:

An 2vs2 OP Fight in NC is still far superior then any pointless Conflict Town PVP in Fallen Earth.
There is a large number of people, who are pretty fed up with the 100000th incarnation of a popular Korean MMORPG. They are fed up with buttonsmashing/facerolling the keyboard to prevail in PVP. An Neocron with properly working subscription plus anti-cheat programme will see many of them come over. Working subscription means also additional income for KK. And to lay it clear, Black Prophecy didn't cause frenetic storms of cherish among the community at launch. Several months later, the game is making progress step by step and continously improves - KK doing a great job there.
As we all know, a game is dead once it stops developing. So let's help to revive our beloved NC :)

If you mean by "they know" KK, then it also doesn't sound logic to me. Because if they don't open any subscription method, they also won't get any revenue for their product "Neocron" that still is being played. Furthermore, KK knows the market and that there is a demand for an fully working MMORPG/FPS. Last but not least, it would be unlogic for them to consider a paid NC less appealing then a free NC as it is right now. Servers don't run on their own (without maintenance and electricity). It doesn't make sense also why Paypal is too much effort, while Click2Pay is still OK.

That point aside, KK haven't been insolvent for a while now. It makes no business sense to not and try and make money and get paypal running again, otherwise you are going to end up being out of business and insolvent again. Also less money coming in, means less money to pay for development.
Paypal has no aptitude to make such assumption, they charge a percentage upon the money transfer and not whenever a game is solvent or not! otherwise they would stop providing their service to other gaming companies in a similar situation of not selling that is.Quote:

Anyway, KK are accepting money via these methods and writing it off as donations, since (as far as I am aware) KK aren't allowed to trade with the Neocron anymore. Whatever, all of the great points in the last couple of posts have been discussed ad nauseum on this very forum over the years. Get new coders, bring in new players. Get anti cheat, there is no other game like nc. Etc etc.
I dont mean to sound like a broken rec- rec- record here but all of this has been said by a tonne of people in the past, even when we had populations of 300+ every night. Still there were people who sought continuous improvement. We had this ingame and out of game - with the brainport et al.
Everyone here is wildly speculating. Noone knows any facts. This is the problem. With no cold hard facts all this will be is 100s of pages of speculation.
Thats why it is important to maintain a cool head and be patient. No amount of arguing is going to get anyone an answer any quicker.
Interesting thought, but I would had thought Paypal had a local office in Germany that would be better suited to deal with KK. Although having said that, it seems finding any street address (UK or Germany) for Paypal is pretty difficult.Quote:
