Sure its a bit disappointing to hear about the official release date being later than expected but, come on, we all know that this game has the best PvP system hands down even with all the bugs and crap. For me personally its all about the PvP.. I played meridian59 for 4 years simply because of the gameplay and pvp... the world was 1/4 the size of neocron and it was a fuggen 2d game LOL.. but the game play was solid and addicting. I'm sure KK is aware of their unique combo of shooter and rpg and will most likely not want to fuk it up. They captured the same quality that meridian59 had where driver's skill really made a difference on how well that character performed in PvP... B:DoY is their chance to go big or stay home. They need to find a way to appeal not only to the current player base but also reach out to potential neocron noobs. If they can plan for a few good sized patches before the release then I think the majority of peeps will be happy...But I'm sure they are well aware of this already.. gotta remember that this is their job.. this is what puts food on the table for em.. they aren't gonna purposely fuk it up. - Hemi / Valhingen / Zenabi

September 1st ... sheesh. So, okay, i will probably keep my account active (and actually keep paying the monthly fee) so Spook will exist when BDoY finally arrives, but i probably won't be playing much between now and then. Will still do forum posting if interesting topics pop up.

Apologies would at least contribute to a little bit more understanding among the customers. When a release-date has been postponed this many times, I would say it's the least KK could do.

Still loving the game and looking forward to the expansion though.

Why is everybody bitchin so much on KK. I believe the work very hard to keep everything in order as soon as possible. Who knows what all the reasons are that delays them. Anyway I'm glad to hear that it will be arriving beginning of September. Now I can have a nice summer vacation and after that play BDOY with a tanned body :D

Keep up the good work KK. By the way, I would like to join the Beta Testing too.

And for all you whiners about KK breaking promises and stuff like that : GO HOME AND PLAY WITH A BARBIE OR SOMETHING !!!

It's a bit of a disappointment but I'd rather have them release it after summer ( Euro 2004 , Olympics etc )when server populations pick up as the nights draw in, rather than before summer and the servers being dead when newbs come on.

Blizzard, has AFAIK always done closed beta test of all their expansions. In other words, nothing odd about that.

Since I can't be arsed to find the other posts I was planning on specifically replying to (And yes, I did read the whole thread beforehand :p), I'll just have to say that this "delay" has been done in an effort to get rid of some of the most common complaints. Database improvements and improved logging of things in the database should help get rid of items suddenly disappear; and even if it happens, you should now be geting your items back since KK could simply do a check to see if you ever really had these items.

Considering how many people I have seen quit about that, I think it's worth the extra 3 months, wouldn't you agree?

If the original plan goes through, only if your account has been inactive for 3 months at that time. If you want to go the cheapskate route, cancel your account now, activate it in july, and you should still have your characters.
I'll try and find the post about that by MJS...

Why not just reactivate August 31st? as far as DOY release goes your account isn't inactive. I thought the HAD to be 3 months was to get the multi-account thing with the old pre-order pricing plan?

That was my plan, if I still care about this game after WoW.

True enough, I'm just saying July since then you'll be certain, if you do so the day before, you run the risk of something going wrong with your payment and thus losing your characters.

Well, not much to add to what's been said already in the thread.

Just want to add my feeling of disappointment.

I�ve been playing NC for a year now, there have been spells of bored in this period, but I always found a new challenge, things to do, like starting new chars on new servers, rolling chars, trying something new, etc. Now I�m coming into the dead end of things I could try. I mean seriously, if you look into last 3 months � how much new stuff has been added??? It has been limited and often it looked as if it was a quick thought idea that made it into the game�

Look at the population of the servers? I think it decreased by 25-30% in last 2-3 months. And I think it will keep declining with the same if not faster rate. So by the time bDoY is ready � there will be 500-600 people (maybe less) still playing across all servers�

Clearly your strategy of keeping the interest in the current game by giving the info on the expansion doesn�t work. And I have a feeling that there will be hardly any additions into the game before Doy is out. Now I think that basically the current game is put in a state of �a frozen game that will be killed off by the end of the year�, so KK is placing all the efforts into developing a new game (bDoY), with the hope that it will be more successful than NC. But we are paying customers and we expect new items, patches, regular events, etc in the game. And it doesn�t happen. For instance, when I saw the notes of the last patch on TS � I got really excited on all the changes! It�s been over 2 months since that, and as stated somewhere on the forum this changes won�t be applied in next Retail patch� So somewhy I think this changes will never make it into the retail (maybe in bDoY or later patches of bDoY)�.And my recent problem of lost stuff doesn�t make me happier, the helpdesk can�t help, so my frustration level is getting into the critical state.

And what about the close beta? How many people you want to let into it? On what criteria? Somewhat this isn�t a good idea at all. Why? Think about it. People who will not be selected will get more pissed off, hence there will be a percentage of more quits. And the ones that would be selected to partake � will be playing there most of the time, hence lowering the population of people playing retail.

I have a better idea � why don�t you do an open beta test to all subscribed members? It would effectively kill off the retail, but it would be dead anyway, it�s just the matter of time!! It would be a good gesture to the existing community and would provide more feedback in terms of making a solid final product (bDoY). I�m sure you can think of the logistics of implementing the open beta test. Let�s hope for good.

Or maybe one of your strategy for bDoY is to kill off the current community and start a completely new one with the new game...................

And my last words:
I love the game, but if nothing happens within next month or so, I�ll be more likely to quit and never come back. To quit is a hard decision, but once I make it and execute it, I�ll rather start looking elsewhere for long term, then rely on the �slim hope� of the game that let me down�..

Without having read all of the posts, i have to say, that i am really sad, that it will take until September for BDOY to get out of its hiding place.

Just hope you guys keep us entertained with a few patches and a few new toys until then.

And please let all your present customers be beta testers :D

And another wish: Give us more sneak peeks. We love those and are growing more and more desperate.

And finally: I respect and honour the work you do with your small staff. Its amazing how you could do such a large and complicated thing with so few hands and heads. So keep up the good work :) And dont let the bitches ruin your enthusiasm. I personally like that you got carried away, while "just meking an expansion pack". Just pin down all the new ideas you have and implement them after doy is out and running.
