I have called mine "project neocron for hl2" because that way it doens't look like i'm trying to create a new game. Because It is KK's game, I have already said it's a fan project which was inspired by the main game.
I once asked (about 1.5 years ago) if they would be willing to sell the rights to the game, and for how much. at the time I was told no, and after working out some costs, it would be impractical to run on my budget of.. well, not alot.
Don't forget to keep us posted with some high-res screenies! I'm really curious about all this!
I made a few hl2 maps in my day. Shame there's no real good source game anymore that I feel like making a map for, because it sure is a therapeutic experience seeing the level come alive.
I actually use to work at a LAN gaming centre, and I made the entire place (basement included) into a fairly fun CSS map. Pix below:

Some hi-res screenies will be coming later today. I've done a good amount of work, but until the lights are placed, you can't see it in game.
While I'm here, I'd like to advertise for someone who can make some props for me. If you notice, I haven't put any desks or benches in my map, because I think they could be better done as props. So if anyone has experience with XSI and wants to help, just let me know.
Anyways, keep an eye out.
Here are some images of the first pieces of the outside of Medicare. It's shaping up nicely and I'm teaching myself as I go, so once I learn a few more techniques, it should go a bit faster.
I want to mention also that I am pleased as what responses I have gotten and how excited it makes me to work on something like this. Once again, thanks to KK for providing some excellent inspiration.
Also, I haven't changed my core map name from NC3_Plaza on my PC (because renaming the file can cause compilation issues in Hammer) but I will rename everything I post here from now on to HL2_PNC for Half-Life 2: Project Neocron to hopefully satisfy everyone.

That looks nice and all, but why HL2? Why not Fallout 3? You could make a total Neocron single player mod for Fallout 3 and even have the wasteland :wtf: AND a leveling system (for what its worth I guess) AND NPCs to talk to you and....yeah just all that stuff.
HL2 doesn't feel rickety.
I'm using HL2 because Hammer is easy to use and there is a ton of info and examples to work with. I've also spent a lot of time learning how to use this stuff, including investing a lot of money into books and DVD's specifically for the tools used for HL2. And, of course, I don't own Fallout 3 and I would have to in order to make modded content for it.
Adding everything you listed into HL2 is relatively easy. But that's jumping way ahead of ourselves. Let me make Plaza first, and I'll see where we can go from there.

reasons for using hammer and hl2 for project neocron:
it's easy to use to map polygons and world triggers.
it's stable with a mass of support and 20 years of expertise behind it.
It also runs on pretty much any system,
and hammer is free if you have a steam account, which is also free.
drawbacks: there is no npc interaction available (to an extent). there is no player leveling system.
reasons for using fallout 3 systems:
npc interactions are easy to programme and control/edit.
player leveling system.
worlds can be created with smooth transition effects (walk form zone to zone with little or no syncing).
reasons for not using it: the editor makes my eyes bleed,
the game itself is not very well supported by anyone, even it's creators.
in order to get the game and editor you must buy the damn thing, whereas hammer is free.

I've spent the last few days teaching myself how to get transparent textures to work. I think everyone will enjoy the results. Please post comments/replies to let me know what you think I should change and/or update.

Nice pic and nice vid. Can you remove the door sounds at all? It'd just feel a little more NC without them I think. Also, how small a detail do you intend on doing? Can you be arsed with the wall plaque to the right of the doors as you walk in?
Although, I wouldn't want to see you get swamped with minor things, and being prevented from working on the more important stuff.

There are sounds for the doors in front of medicare, so I found the closest ones to match and put them in. I don't like the "Pop out" sound, perhaps I can look later today for a better one.

Why KK should sell NC Rights to valve? they should sell to us the community and then we should be able to buy (or use a open source) game engine. And then re-do at arts and stuff...
I've got enough marketing know-how and could get 1000 new people immediately signing up for new accounts.
Problem being, I'm scared of KK suing me for representing their business :(
More players = More money = better game...
