I wouldn't know much about 10tacle or CDV.
I simply blame KK. I mean even if CDV marketted NC badly.. ive seen plenty of people. Its just that this game is managed so poorly they leave.
Doesnt matter if the games marketted poorly if the product being marketted is flawed.
wow.. QFT! =]Quote:

it annoys me when people claim they can't find fights anywhere when there's always at least one clan that's recruiting that need more people so they can fight more often and thus make the game more fun for everyone in the clan..
would you mind kindly fecking off? there's still people enjoying this game you selfish c_nt.. if you want to keep your wonderful memories of NC1 and somehow NC2 is ruining them, just forget about nc? pretend it has died? or actually do something usefull ingame instead of standing around in plaza1 or whatever remininising of the old days wasting ya time like 99% of the other vets that return for 5 secondsQuote:

Granted with the free time when 2.2 first came out the pop was going to get bigger but now its even smaller than before 2.2 so all those people have left now.
There are what 4 clans now that actually op fight? for a entire game 4 clans? So basically if you want to op fight you've gotta join a set clan which lets face it just shows there's not much going on and i bet the stuff that is going on is because they've arranged the fight, not really the spontaneous attacks and defenses that made op fighting fun.
Now i don't know any you lot but i've actually tried getting friends that play MMO's to come to NC, i show them it, even let them try it on my char and there wow this is cool, till it fatals, till you bug in sync, till you loose sound on sync, till ya imps broke but not actually showing as broke because you've gotta relog after death to get correct item qualitys or till the god knows how many other bugs there are that constantly require restarts/relogs or player work arounds. That's when I get embrassed by the game and they loose interest
I've followed this game from about 2002, if not earlier. EDIT: Well I'll be damned, my regdate on this new forum is 2001; that means I've followed since 99, now that I think about it.
The devs have made a string of bad design choices from before a playabale beta, and onwards.
The bad choices will continue, unless what I perceive to be bad choices means that they make mega-sales in Germany. I somehow doubt that.
KK ignored the fact that pure PvP games do not get as much attention as PvE games; PvE games with crappy PvP were a bad choice, especially after WoW got released; even after they should have realized what happened, KK just said "Hey, you know what? Even though we alienated a huge part of our community back in beta when announced the LawChip and tried to grab sales from PvE, let's just continue this road to nowhere and keep this as a PvE game with crappy PvP. What's WoW, again? Is that some kind of drug or something?"
If KK wants to get any kind of population back, they NEED to tap the niche market of ACTUAL HARDCORE PVP PLAYERS, as they had claimed to so many years ago, rather than ignoring PvPers to try to get more cash from PvE. No dev, no matter how small their game is, or how close to dying it is, seems to want to accept the fact that HEY, if no one's playing your game now as it is, you might want to tap into that playerbase that has no game right now. EVE capitalized on PvP well. Real PvPers have a great space game with EvE. PvPers now need a game where they can punch and shoot things; no one's released it, because the carebears cry, and many devs like KK listens/thinks that PvP is bad, despite KK heralding NC as a PvP game before they had a beta. You're not a Blizzard. You will never have the resources to compete with a Blizzard- or EA- or SOE-class company. Accept it. Tailor your game to the people who have no game, and they will play. It's a small community, but one that news spreads fast in when there's hope worth having in a game.
Sometimes I think KK takes design advice from George Bush, because everything makes sense when you look at it that way. "There's a lack of tangible evidence to show that this major design decision will help us. We assume that it will, because that other company had this in their game, and people like that game. OH NO, people don't seem to like this change! They say it will destroy their playerbase before the game's even live! Oh well. We'll just deny it, and then run with those bad decisions."
pvp has met it's technical boundaries - take a look at the "clipping issues" thread if you aint up to date. Apart from that, nc has very, very little focus on PvE.
I agee on KK having made the mistake to try and go 'mainstream' - especially with NC2. I also agree on them having made extremely bad decisions without paying attention to the needs and habits of the paying customer base - recently, the 2.2 PvE changes as one example.
It's not going to change tho' - pay2play or dont, KK will do what they think is best and if you disagree with it, find a game that suits you better or get yer own post-apoc PvP utopia on the road. :)
lol, i think most people who continue to play have forgotten what it once was. and its kinda funny to think about how over all the years, whenever someone made a post like this one its followed with a "GET THE FUCK OUT IF YOU DONT LIKE IT LOL1OLL!" by atleast one person.
you ever think thats where the 800 people a server went? they just left. but keep telling people that it seems to be working
now theres hardly anyone around, game has become more of an 3D interactive IRC tbh.
i still think KK's best bet for NC is to drop the monthly subscription to ~$5 and re-release a basic neocron, start all over and go from there with what theyve learned over the years. the netcode would be better like it was 5 years ago because there wouldnt be so many changes to it, at first anyways.
never will happen of course :D
you mis-interpreted my reply there - I dont tell anyone to get lost, all I say is: You've seen the developement over the last 6 years - the issues are still there and they always will be - moaning has no use. It didnt work the first time and now, a quadrillion threads & posts later, it is still the same debate.
Same counts for the 'just go back to nc1, drop the subscription fees a little and everything will be fine again'.
NC1 was built by ambitious beginners with little to no experience in building 'better worlds' and had more security holes and bugs than cstrike beta... not the best asset for a MMO really. NC1 already had a hard time back then, but today it would be a total failure.
Jesus christ people are still playing this?, from the looks of it, they need to pull the plug, But if they are still making some profit from you saps, then they never will, this game is dead and broken. I used to play this game, It used to be a blast! It was the only MMO with real RP potential, and I loved it, This game has brought me many many happy memories, but enough is enough, they need to stop giving you guys the run around and either pull the plug or do something.
I'm sure some of you will post lots of shit they are currently working on and ect... but wake up and tell me how many people actually play this still, what the server population these days? hrmmmmm
Its a 10-15% (100-150 people) at peaks now. Might get to 200 on a busy weekend.
damm thats a lot better then the 30-50 I used to see, But I still think your exaggerating a tad
Nah thats pretty much what ive seen at peaks. On the not so busy times (european working hours) its 3-5%
Regardless its still not even close to the 150-200 on working hours and 300-500 on peaks, that it used to be.
I did the little Citycom wildcard tricky last night, and saw there was 157 players online, at about 11:00 Uk time
It was 11% now. 9% 1.5 hours ago.
try talking about something you have a clue about? lol... there's more people playing the game daily than there are posting on here.. LOTS more, and the server/game is far from dead, as has been said several times before, there's op fighting every evening with several clans involved, be them seperate 1v1 (clan vs clan) fights or 1v1v1 or 2v1 or 3v1 etc as well as constant fighting in pepper park for a large part of the day..Quote:

oh and i don't care if they never patch again really, it's still fun
