I did not say they should wait till March, I said thats their final deadline. Even if it does not destroy the whole english community, it will end my 3 and a half year stay.Quote:

That WoW was going to "kill" Neocron.
WoW hasnt been released in europe yet.
And guess what, most of their customers are from europe.
KK have 1000 times more influence on the future of Neocron than the release of WoW in Europe. WoW won't steal many if the product is what was expected with a decent population, infact, if Neocron was that the flow is likely to be more the other way. Current state though...wave goodbye.Quote:

Neocron is lucky some of us can't stand the sword and sorcery genre and prefer a sci-fi theme, but i've also noticed how population numbers have dropped.
wow will walk all over neocron..
once the euro release is here nc will loose 50% of it players..
a nice mate sent me a canadian copy and im having shitloads of fun on the us servers...
the wow pve is just hella fun.. almost no bugs...and omfg almost balanced classes o0
the login server tends to die a lot and i sometime crash when i log out.. thats about it....
on the pvp side its ok... you get ganked nonestop in the contested areas...but a few features are still missing... if you die close to a graveyard you can keep coming back like a lemming...
else its great game and im just about to cancel my last nc account :(
(havent played in 2 weeks)
been here since beta 4, loved every minute of the game untill i just couldent stand KK and the way they decide to run there company.
atm i havent logged on for weeks and cannot justify paying so much and getting so little.
any one wanna buy my accs? lol
When ppl talk about WoW being an amazing game i wonder what their histories with MMOs are. I don't mean that in a bad way, i would love to still have a fresh faced view to all the games coming out but i lost that over a number of years. When _i_ look at WoW all i see is DAoC with some bits from UO and better graphics. So its only really good for 1-2 months for me (unless there are some gems under the surface).
There are very few games that are not just composites of older sometimes better games. NC is different, its packed with unique features, however they are carefully covered up with a large quantity of bugs and poor customer support.
My view is that KK should concentrate on fixing and finishing the current game. Don't bother with new features (hence more bugs) for the current players, nothing is going to keep them if they are going. Release the game properly, get lots of new faces in and the game will improve a lot.
A game can have all the bells and whistles in the world but as long as it is a click and wait game it's shit. In my view pong is a better game than click and wait games because at least it requires skill
EDIT: game : A competitive activity or sport in which players contend with each other according to a set of rules
Click and wait is hardly competive so is hardly classed as a game at all
With all these click and wait plus fantasy games out there, Neocron could really clean up a good part of the market because it's unique.
Everytime I turn around there's yet ANOTHER fucking sword, elf, and magic powder fairyland game "coming soon" I mean WTF cares?
Perhaps the hundreds of thousands of people that play that type of game....Quote:

Games like (and especially) WoW are something really different from my point of view; they aim at a totally different target market - an audience that reads some default fantasy books and is maybe like 16 (+/- 5) years old - no idea really if that's true, just my impression and i think it's really a shit game. Neocron i'd say is maybe more for people like 20 (+/- 10 or even more +) years. Just speculating a bit ...
On the other hand there are some games in the MMORPG field on the lineup where things could look different - number 1 i'd say is Dungeons and Dragons Online. Apart from the screens out there on the net and on www.ddo.com, which look awesome, it's the fact that it's first person based and this (from the FAQ):
5.1. How does combat work in D&D Online?
Our combat system is designed to make a clean break from the “press auto-attack and wait” style of combat that has become so prevalent in today’s MMORPGs. We’re developing an action-based system that’s fast, smooth, and responsive, while still requiring tactical, coordinated decisions from adventuring parties. We want player skill to factor significantly into D&D Online.
Notice something? This is exactly the feature that sets Neocron apart from basically everything that is out there ... also there are some huge companies behind all of it - Atari, Turbine Games, Wizards of the Coast, etc. ...
But still, it's a Fantasy, not a SF/Cyberpunk setting ... so still something different after all.
Still something else is that (tabletop) game out there called Shadowrun ... the only computer games that exist are for the NES and Game Gear and are, well, rather old  but the company currently holding all rights for a computer game there is, guess who, Microsoft ... they just decided to not do anything until now ... if it somehow happens that M$ decides to make a MMORPG of they're own which happens to be in a Cyberpunk setting since they own all rights to a Shadowrun computer game anyway ... well, things could look different ...
