Something else for NC:R perhaps...
Dual Wielding.
Yay Akimbo-style! ^^Quote:

Aesthetically it looks good like in the movies but I don't know how you could balance it. Maybe an accuracy penalty but then that would make it all bollocks.
I say we stick with the one-hand style for the mo and DJ dreams of a dual wielding plasma pistol bad assery are locked in his head for eternity moohaha.
I'd implement it as a largely cosmetic option by the simple expedient of halving the frequency (each weapon fires alternately).
Any other benefit would of course have to be represented by some form of balancing, such as TL, skills or other means.
at least read my posts before just dismissing every point out of hand. The point is, if the aiming mechanic is replaced by a hitscan without anything else, every gun as currently in the game will be pretty much the same. Of course in games like ut or Serious Sam, where you have only 10 weapons, and they are very differentiated, the gameplay is different. But this is not how neocron works at the moment.Quote:

Like I said in my post, I have absolutely no problem with going for hitscan, hitscan optimised weapons, hitscan optimized skills, hitscan optimized environments, hitscan optimized gameplay for neocron 3.
It is however absolutely impossible to just switch out recticle based aiming with hitscan, without completely rebuilding the entire game. And the whole point of neocron reloaded, is to use the same assets and dynamics as neocron so as to be able to do it in the 12 months they are pitching. If you're going to change the game that much, you might as well make a proper sequel.
Well the answer is simple:Quote:

But you can wield 1 rare that is a two weapon piece!
Shooting is done simultaneously, so dmg only registers once.
It's the same as having 1 weapon, but visually you see two shots at the same time, one from each hand.
Exactly.Quote:

This avoids any coding issues to do with quick slots and balance problems as it's quite literally a single weapon that only looks like two.
The only benefits I would like to see would be doubled clip size. This could be offset by a higher TL, lower damage and/or freq, WoC req (controversial) or another skill element currently not implemented (I've mentioned before that a Skill/Abilities/Feats section could sort out a lot of balance issues, especially regarding things like trading, stealth and other esoteric possibilities that are currently difficult to resolve with the present mechanics and offers the potential for things like 'Catfall' or 'Dual Wielding').
Well, i wouldn't reduce the dmg but simply stack requirements.Quote:

So for using 2x Judge you would need:
P-C = 172-201
T-C = 124-145
The 50-75% are ofc discussible.
A direct downside of akimbo is ofc doubled reload time, also you can't aim effectively so accuracy would be reduced too.
All i see about that is alot of complications in the coding and the skills balancing, and people that use non pistol classes getting dual wield jealousy.
Next Psi Monks want two spells as well, but for that they need two gloves, then AoE spells x2 break the game, etc etc...
Seriously, i think that an elegant way of solving it with pistols or any other class that has dual wields is having a single "weapon" that's just made of two guns behaving as one... It's just 1 weapon that registers 1 hit, but visually divided in two parts that fire at once everytime you press the trigger.
That way you can still get the feel of dualwielding, but won't upset the balance of the game and create a chore of getting every weapon twice, and having to give the option to other classes as well, which i see would really create a big balancing problem.
just my 2 cents on that.
Jaeon's right.
And balancing comes first compared to virtual vanity. Though that can't be said of some games.
At the risk of being hunted down with pitchforks and torches by KK and the entire community: Was it really necessary to mention WoW in combination with NC:R? Really? You have got a very unique niche product, no need to throw WoW into the mix when advertising NC ;)
Now that I got that off my chest: There is a simple and anything but new little idea that I just cannot get out of my head though. Players are offering to provide content by writing quests or creating new landscapes already, and thinking of past player made events with GM support, I remembered a feature from Ryzom (and other games), allowing players to create their own little scenarios, landscapes and / or story settings. Basically a permanent form of player created content.
Could such a system be implemented in NC too?
Perhaps Neofrag could be expanded into some sort of holodeck with player created maps, maybe even broadcast matches on player made maps via NC's news network with the audience being able to place bets on the teams or individual opponents (an idea I really loved about past player made events).
As I said, a simple idea that is not even new, but such a system, a bit similar to already existing pastime like player decorated appartments, could help to bridge gaps when waiting for new official content (who would have guessed - yeah, yeah, sorry, already on my way out again).
Since when did I say it shouldn't be balanced? O_oQuote:

Now back to the wishlists, Useful vehicles, stable game, with cheat protection, set in Neocrons world, but nothing like Neocron arcade please!
Shadowrun shadowrun shadowrun I cant say it enough
That was more for KK's benefit. Look at WoC weapons :eek:Quote:
