Great work Biglines!
I got my PSU today, so hopefully my PC will boot and I'll get some work done. I'll look into importing the weapons into the game to see how they look. I have no idea how to make a laser rifle, but I think with some basic modifications I can make plasma rifles, fusion rifles, etc. Bullet based weapons are as simple as changing rate of fire and spread.
But getting them in game to see how they look, shouldn't be a problem.

yay, after 2 full days of trying loads and loads and loads and loads of stuff, finally have the weapon as a viewmodel. It is not animated yet, and the UV stuff has to be redone, but at least it's possible (the good thing is also that it is made in blender, which means it's all open source)
so enough talk, look at the ugly gun:

it's awsome! Nice job Biglines.:D
-
And I got the animations working (as far as I can tell, I'm the first person to get a viewmodel from scratch in blender to HL2):
why hasnt this board got a proper youtube plugin? :S well click on fullscreen or go to youtube itself
-
It's awesome! the reload animation is very cool!
[OT] do you model with Blender? if yes congratz!
-
yes with blender, XSI mod tool is the biggest pile of shit I've come across, and the rest is all expensive, plus blender is actually very nice (I've tried a lot of others at uni). The texturing of course not in blender, I'm using my educational license atm for photoshop, but prolly gonna switch to the gimp soon
-
which os are you running on your computer? windows? (make the switch to linux if you run windows).
-
Nah, I'm not a linux fan, I prefer windows (even paid for a new copy of xp when my laptop came with vista installed), mostly because I just want my games to work (and I don't mind reinstalling every 6 months, it cleans up all the files I dumped in random folders all over my hdd), plus a lot of software doesn't work properly on linux (for example solidworks which I use for Uni is windows only)
but let's not get into linux vs windows, I'm gonna try not to reply to any of those kind of replies, I use open source software mainly because it's free, not because it's better in any other way (which I know some apps are, I prefer blender to a lot of paid software)
thanks for the reply though ;) I prefer comments on my work instead of my tools ;)

That looks really awesome. I'm sorry to hear that you're a Windows fan though.

walking around plaza one I noticed there are 3 props are all over the place, started on the first:

and finished (maybe some scratches to add, but not now), this is a prop that can be added to any hl2 map:
