Im lookin for a new way to make some money because working and going to school full time is way to much for me.

And I was lookin on the help wanted things and I seen one of those home business type advertisements, I know I always thought those were scams and shit, well I looked into it and it actually looks kinda simple, easy, and profitable.

It goes like this:
you pay a 20$ monthly fee, they give u a catalog full of cheap and wholesale priced stuff for you to resell ( basicly like avon ). and you can make profit and cant quite remember all the other things about how much u can make but i think he said(i called for more info) that if you sell a certain amount of items a month you get a $1,000 bonus. he also said they take care of all shipping.

just taking a small poll of how many of you think this stuff actually works, and if you think its at least worth it to try because eh whats it gonna hurt to try. i'd rather spend 20$ a month to make 1000$ and sit at home while doin it than work about 40 hrs a week to make 300$ and actually have to work hard and dont get time to study or do homework for school so end up gettin bad grades.

I voted always a scam. This may not always be true but unless you happen to know alot of people who need the stuff in the catalog you'll spend more time and energy tryin to sell the stuff than its worth. hehe gettin desperate? take a break from school, join the USMC and let uncle sam pay for school. Worked for me.

erm.. dude.. a bit risky...

for one thing, you HAVE to go out and meet ppl and scam THEM out of their cash and give them little trinkets...

that's the catch.

trust me, its much better getting a part time job with a set wage and benefits than a no-name company and shit.

could you use e-bay for it? if you could, it might be worth a try.

and my furniture? from military barracks that were being rebuilt.
edit2: yes im getting desperate, im gathering all my nc stuff together and thinkin about sellin it but wanting to wait until doy gets out so hopefully there will be more people wanting to buy it ;]

I certainly understand where you're coming from shujin...

I got a frighteningly large credit acrd balance... been whittling away at it when I can but college stuff costs :(

Just continually sell stuff on through to the release. There's ppl playing now and there'll be ppl playing later. I've got a policy to have one unit of a decent item of everything saved and the extras sold. Serves me well enough, I'd think.

I have a friend that does something like that. Scam? Not really. But he sure can get annoying sometimes.

Me- "Hey! You want to go out to the bar tonight?"
Him- "Sure. I might meet some new customers."
Me (hoping to meet a girl and not a customer)- "Hmmm, maybe next weekend."

If you can sell it may be a good idea. If you dont know what it means to sell then stay out of it. Selling shit to dairy farmers is a bit hard but a good sellsmen can do just that. The first rule of sales is it isnt going to save you time. It will cost you alot more in personal time then a regular joe job. If your a salesman then you do it full time that is the only way to make cash.

So are all of them scams... no
Are they a way out of working for your cash ..... no

Never start anything where you have to pay to get started..

Sides it's pretty much embarassing, selling all that stuff. "Hi, what about a yellow toothbrush? It's real cheap, c'mon".. uhm?

You might want to consider a mcjob or opinion research..

Not exactly a scam ... these schemes just rely on you being able to find enough people more stupid than you to cover your costs.

Not that there's ever been a shortage of idiots.

well it claims to have a good deal of electronic products available, i emailed them with a bunch of questions like can i get a small list of what electronic / computer items they sell.

because if they have alot of computer type stuff i can sell those easy at school and my teacher owns a computer repair business so he would probably buy some off me.

edit: and yea this realy sounds like how Avon does business, they get people to sell their products for them and stuff. and they said u can mark up ur prices to whatever u want.

clinical trials.... lol. i have a friend who is a nurse and she told me a story about a friend of hers who went in for one of those clinical trial things. she ws there 1 day only but got £500 for it. (whats the current exchange rate to dollars?) the only thing she had to do was lie on a table and have a tube stuck up her ass. Sounds like easy money to me... (except for the tube in your ass thing, im sure there plenty of other stuff u can take part in though). It sure beats the crap out of these pyramid things, ive tried one of those before and it was a pile of shite. you have to work your ass off for very little return.

ive never even heard of clinical trials ;P

you get paid to take drugs and have tests run on you and stuff. Here (UK) a lot of companies advertise for it. Most just ask you to be aged between 18-55 and in good health. some prefer non smokers, some ask specifically for smokers (it depends on what theyre testing). Some give you medicines to take. some try out new equipment on you. Its a lot of cash in a short space of time. (most of the tests ive seen advertised last for up to a week, they put you up in hospital and look after you for free for the entire time.)

In all seriousness some of them are a very good way to earn a few quid.

Make sure you read up on it though and pick something you are comfortable with. You can only do so many a year by law I believe but they are almost always undersubscribed so you can pick and choose.

Many don't even involve you taking any drugs, they are testing release mechanisms (ie new kinds of pills and injections) or diets and such-like. The ones that test drugs only take people that need them, so for instance asthma sufferers can make a mint (£500/day is not unusual [that's ~$1000]).

If you look around you'll probably find an agency that will list ones in your area. Those agencies also often arrange things like marketing surveys as well which can make you a few bucks too.

I know a few people who've done them and the worst thing that happened was that one guy started vomitting on the first day so they paid him for the whole week and sent him home early. He got about £2000 for being sick for a few hours.

one good way to make money is to just get some network cable in a spindal and cut it to the lengh peopel want and put the ends on. my bro has a friend at college who used that to pay for his entire college fee.

or you could always invent a new pyramid scam :P

sounds somewhat ok, but the problem would mainly be " who do I sell this to?"

do you have a lot of friends/family with money to spend on nick nacks or whatever is being sold ? Personally I would like to know how you do with this if you decide to do it. One home based work I found interesting was medical billing, $500.00 for the course and they start you off afterwards with a doctor or a few to work with, all you need is a pc/printer and some other office supplies. I might get into it if I need the money :D

I don't think it's a hoax, but it is not easy to sell things without advertizement and a strong customer base.

Don't doctors have their own printers?

medical billing is done by the doctors secratary and is a real pain because of dealing with insurance companys and filing claims and dealing with getting paid. Some doctors use outside company's to do this work for them so the secratary's can deal with the phone, and onsite customers and so on.
