Nice skin, but why do people continue to use PHPBB, when there are much better boards out there? Its weird, PHPBB is limited in its capacity, and in the stuff it will allow. Try http://www.invisionboard.com they offer their full version, of professional forum software, for free, with lots more stuff than PHPBB

I've always found PHPBB to be limited in what it can do, kind of like a cut down budget version of a full blown forum. Hard to explain, but when you look at this VB forum, its got a fair few things you "can" see, but the Admin options would probably put PHPBB to shame.

Aye, so does invision, cept they will give you the full blown version, you just have to display the copyright notice at the bottom (I spent a lot of time playing with forums, and portal systems, Mambo/Invision = the best)

yea, the one in that list is the first one iv ever installed and i think i get it now. my old forums were installed by a m8 of mine http://lostomega.phys1ks.com/forums . im installing the Invision forum atm to see how it is. can you download new thems for the version 1.3.1?

The forum in that link is YABB (yet another bulliten board) some hosts wont allow them due to sky high processor time etc..

Invision is totally customisable yes, and if you just go to google and type invision skins, should bring you up one or two sites. I went for a totally blue one, which is currently inactive, but thats cause I'm too lazy to finish things :(

where do i get the copyright notice? or do i jest give a link to the site saying they made it?

its all in the forum package, you wont really notice a difference to be honest. Its just you "cannot" remove the copyright notice, whilst you can if you purchase a licence for it.

It also asks you to register in the admin panel (which has a cool notes facility), apart from that, its the same as the full version. You can also convert from PHPBB to Invision (file on the invision site) so gives you less work to do ;)

oh i know its barly noticable, its jest some text at the botome. i was jest wondering if they stuck it there themselvs or if i had to.

Use the conversion tools, it will convert all your forums etc.. from PHPBB to Invision (commercial packages got to be able to tempt people over from free stuff, with ease of use etc..)

I've been trying to convince Hinch to convert FanG forums to Invision, but I dont think he knows how to :angel: :angel: :angel:

can you help me with something? ok, i got the 1.3.1version i think it is. i add a catagory, then add a forum under that catagory, go to the main forum page that shows all the catagorys and sub topic things and the things i added arnt there Oo

Have you set the permissions? You need read access to the people/groups you want to read the forums, write access to them that want to write, upload access etc..

Try http://skins.ibplanet.com/index.php?act=main&id=3 for themes/skins for the Inv forum, cant find my fav though, Blue Illusions, but its a good place to start. Also http://www.invisionskins.com has some too.

/edit - to change the big pic up top from Invision to whichever one you want, edit the html in the skins section of admin, and change logo4.gif (I think) to the name of your image.
