yes, if I understand you correctly u can.....

also does anyone know since this is a resolution thread, does resolution affect FPS? and if so whats the best for faster performance?

of course resolution affects frames per second. your resolution is the number of pixels in length*width that compose the scene. if you're in 800*600 resolution you have 480000 'dots' on the screen that are being rendered and updated as the scene changes. If you're in 1280x768 you have 983040, or, just about twice as many, so naturally this will run slower, but since there are more dots on the screen, it looks more detailed (well, usually, because you're taking a 3D image and projecting it on a '2D' surface). Although, Neocron's graphics are so bass-ackwards and outdated that resolution doesn't make much of a difference. New games like Half-life 2 look astoundingly better in 1280x1024 compared to 800x600

Lowering the resolution will increase your FPS, but most newer graphics cards are infact optimized for higher resolutions, so while going from 1600x1200 -> 1024x768 will yield an improvement, going down to 640x480 can actually slow things down.

edit: oh, and you're asking if neocron can be run in widescreen mode, are you not? it doesn't support that.

NC has virtually no fps change when lowering resolution... been determined a long time ago

I play in 1280x1024 <--- That is a nice Resoultion to play Neo in especially with full AA.

All my details and shit are maxed too.

Neocron is beautiful with those settings and resolution... even with DX7.

It's great to go up close to one of the firemobs... they have individual poly's for teeth and it looks amazing :)

Yes, you can run NC in Widescreen mode. In Neocron.ini change to:

PREFMODENAME = "1280x768x32"

That *should* work. Probably, just dont quote me on that.

just download nc setup. thats the easiest way to change mode and resolutions.

tried changing both neocron.ini and the ncsetup tool. The drop list shows up when I start neo anyway... And if I just type in 1280*768 in the box the game fatals. Any more ideas? Does anyone here run neocron in widescreen at all?

Set your resolution to window mode. I hit over 100 FPS with it. And in any other ress i can't get over 62.

There was a patch released a few months back that added wide screen:

New option in neocron.ini: 'LIMITMODES = "FALSE"' removes the limitation of the fullscreen modes. No liability for display errors in the main menu and R.P.O.S. (In other words, you can use uncommon resolutions like widescreen)

i can hit 250 at times with 1024*768 unless the zone starts to lag (big battle) or what not i'm usually around 90 to 130 now.

Dont run the game in 1600x1200 resolution unless you got binoculars attached to your head as you will find it hard to read the text otherwise.

And if you happen to have binoculars attached to your head, you won't be able to see anything else anyway.

I am playing on 1280x1024x32 on a 19'' monitor and a Geforce FX 5900.
Its even possible to play on 2048x1536x32(on a 19" :D ) but u will get really small text ,and the 60 hz refresh rate is really bad for your eyes...
I have found a screenie in 1920x1440x32 see below.

I play on 800x600.

I know that sounds weird to some people, but I do this because the mouse wont have to travel much from one side to another, and stuff shows up bigger.

I enjoy it more.

Surely that's not possible. I have that graphics card and my game runs @ 38 FPS. It's a new PC aswell

link (http://www.neocronnetwork.de/files/tools/ncsetup.zip)What does this do that the "configure neocron" app in your start menu can't?

I run at 1600x1200 and the text is fine on a 21" CRT or bigger if your RPOS is setup sensibly.

And they will be outkicked as usual from Radeon 9900 the R420 family
Maybe but personally I doubt it. NVidia moved a LOT further ahead than people expected this time.
