The team behind STALKER (http://www.stalker-game.com/index_eng.html) just released a 115 mb sized chunk of gameplay footage.

This all new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl trailer, taken from press events held across the globe in February 2004, allows gamers to see for the very first time actual gameplay from the worlds first genuine "Survival FPS".

The trailer shows a solitary S.t.a.l.k.e.r. attack a small enemy patrol prior to meeting with his colleagues. They intend to exploit the confusion caused by a stampede of frightened mutant creatures to mask a covert attack on a rival S.t.a.l.k.e.r. base.

After seemingly clearing the base of enemies the S.t.a.l.k.e.r. senses an impending "Blowout" of anomalous energy and must ensure that he and his remaining wounded colleague find shelter before the dangerous radioactive wave passes over the camp.

This action-biased trailer demonstrates just some of the innovative features of one of the PC's most highly anticipated new FPS franchise. This innovative Day/Night cycle, advanced creature AI, unique anomalous energies and of course genre-leading graphics are showcased for the first time in an exciting demonstration of just a snippet of gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl. They also just recently finalized their boxart, and decided on this (http://dirtynuke.net/images/packshot-large-469.jpg).

I suggest that everyone who's able to should check the video.

Yep, The one with the xray-engine or what was it. Looks nice, just like HL2, but more variety..

I am really looking forward to this game. Goodbye HL and Doom. Hello Far Cry and STALKER. Got a feeling I'll need an upgrade this year though to keep up with hardware requirements.

Still not sure how STALKER will actually play yet though. From what I'd read it'll either be similar to Far Cry (i.e. sandbox world with missions), or it might be a really big sandbox with objectives rather than a mission-by-mission structure. If it's the latter, it'll really rock - sortof like Morrowind but with an engine that works and big guns. Mmmmm. Big guns. *shakes head*. Anyway...

The other game I'd been looking forward to for this year was Thief3. But based on my experiences with DX:IW my hopes for it are about as high as me defeating everyone on Pluto in a duel one after the other in one go.

Anything else similar we can look forward to for this year?

Indeed. This site is worth looking at as well if you want to know more about how it is now. Kind of eerie.

http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/If you look around the STALKER site it also has a photo-journal from the stalkers dev team trip.

Part of me would love to go and see Chernobyl, the other part of me is calling that part a sick fuck.

TBH the movie didn't look all that special to me. I've never been a big fan of war type games and it just seems like a more graphically sound version of Call of Duty.

But it does look intresting, may look again later.

Edit: Of course, thats CoD with a big world to move around in, not levels. But the principle is the same.

Sorry but that Warren Spector guy has become insane and not only fired the true project director Randy Smith that helped form the original Thief and Thief 2 but also this "WE ARE GONNA MAKE XBOX AND PC EXACTLY THE SAME GAEM OK ITS GONNA BE GREAT PLUS AWESOME TINY MAPS FULL OF DETAILS AND GREAT PERFORMANCE ON THE XBOX" bullshit has gotta stop and doesnt help the situation either.

Also have you seen Garrett's new look? I like his lime gree xbox mechanical eye. Really cute.

http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/ (http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/[/QUOTE) That site is eerie as hell. Wonder what it was like on the day of and after the catastrophe...

And yes, I will be getting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. when it comes out. I might need a new computer to play it though as Far Cry with all options turned down to the lowest setting and running in 800x600 runs none-too-decently at times. o_O
