As most people who know Lexxuk probably already know that he's had some lung troubles in the past. Well, now he's going into hospital tomorrow (was supposed to be last week... but you know the NHS :rolleyes: ) to get some weird shit done to his lungs (they're removing a layer or something o_O ). So this thread is too tell Lexx how sexy he is and stuff... oh to wish him well....

had someone in my school have to be rushed to hospital for developing a 'hole' of some sort in their lungs last week.

A friend of mine from a long time ago blew a hole in one of his lungs during an asthma attack, but came through fine. He insisted on smoking in spite of that...

Well....
The hospital I got to go to, was supposed to do the Op last week, but, they had to close wards down because of the winter vomit bug, people were going to hospital and getting sick http://www.dgwebb.force9.co.uk/sick.gif
Now, I gotta go in, get the winter vomit, mrsa, and other such stuff, all for an op that will leave me in lots of pain, and unable to nip out for a ciggie. Then, once I've recovered, I gotta go back for the other lung hehehe.
btw, any cute nurses in Derriford hospital play NC and wanna nurse me? :D

because if it was through smoking, i have NO sympathy for you im afraid. just hope you have learned your lesson.

Pneumothorax's are not directly linked to smoking.
What causes it?
Its generic name is "bleb disease." Many terms can be used to described blebs such as; cyst, bulla or bullae, nodule, air sac etc. Blebs can form in any lobe of the lung(s) but predominantly they are found in the upper portion known as the apex. Blebs may be air filled or fluid filled.
While blebs are the leading known cause of SP in patients with or without underlying lung disease, there is a theory about tall, thin SP-ers. Some medical texts suggest an over-stretching of lung tissues due to a particularly long thorax as being a possible cause. Growth spurts in early to late teens have also been a suspected contributing factor - one that is shared by TSPPN.
Friday (op day) I'm having the blebs removed, my pleura err, somethinged, and a layer of my lung removed, probably by introduction of a chemical, this irritates the lung, causing it to get sticky, so it sticks to my chest thing. Result = no blebs to burst, no where for the air to escape too, no way for the lung to collapse. Smokin is just something the docs tell you to give up coz they got nothing better to do :p And I should go to bed, the hospital is like, a 2 hour drive, and i gotta be up in a few hours to check my beds ready :(

Lex is fine. The only thing in danger is this thread. In fact this is a good example of why bumping is bad because people may see it and think something new has happened to Lex (which it hasn't). It causes confusion.
