View Full Version : Idea: Lobotomy.

When I cap a character I eventually get very sick of the character due to nothing to do.

So I've had an idea called Lobotomy for Int, Dex, and PSI; and a idea called Muscle Mass Reduction (MMR).

The way these should work is there should be two NPCs in medicares with operating tables next to them ( for looks ) and when you open dialog with them they should offer the following:

Lobotomy NPC [Brain Surgeon]:
Offers:
1. Frontal Lobotomy - Reverts Int to the starting for your class.
2. Left-Frontal Lobotomy - Reverts Dex to the starting for your class.
3. Right-Frontal Lobotomy - Reverts Psi to the starting for your class.

Muscular NPC [Muscular Specialist]:
Offers:
1. Muscle Mass Reduction - Reverts Str to the starting for your class.
2. Skin Graft - Reverts Con to the starting for your class.

----
Why I think this is a good idea:
I love my characters I create and hate to have to delete them and remake them just to start over again. If you can use these NPC's to revert your character back to a noob it would be great.

Why do I think it would be great:
Because you would be able to keep your money without trying to transfer it through a friend or clan. You would also be able to keep your faction standings and keep the clan you are in.

Additional reasons I like this idea:
Being able to revert a certain skill to starting character standards would be great. I think this because if you don't want to become a complete starter character again, you can revert INT, DEX, STR, and PSI and keep CON if you wish.
Or revert DEX, STR, PSI, and STR so you can keep INT so you can hack and level at the same time.
Or if you dont wish to lom and would like to completely start over a skill this would be great.

I like my idea better (http://neocron.jafc.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85027) only cuz with yours you'd have to re-level a skill from scratch.

I don't see the point.

If you wanna revert a skill to scratch, you might as well start a new char.

The only reason I would want to lom everything away right now, is to change my character drasticaly, (HC to MC... etc.).

I dunno...

Edit: I do agree that something needs to be done about the insane LoM time sink. Be it your idea or mine.

Did you read the reasons why I think its a good idea?
I covered why I think its a good idea in that...

Because I, and alot of people I know, get sick of having a capped character. So why not have a NPC that can revert some skills to default. You can choose to do 1 skill, so you can just level that skill again so you wont be bored, or you can revert all skills by doing each of the options.

The reason I think this is a good idea because its quite annoying having to delete your character you worked on for quite some time, just to make the same character.
Why? Because you will have to transfer your money, you will have to get re-invited to a clan; if you are the leader of the clan you will have even more complications; and your faction sympathies will be gone. Some people may want to keep their faction sympathies because some people have done all available epic runs, and plan to become a 'paladin' once the others are available. It would also be annoying because you would have to organize all of your items and transfer them. And you would have to ensure your apartments are safe, not to mention the keys you lost to apartments and vehicles.

This is the stupidest idea ever, if I were ever really that bored I would either pk people, or make try a new class, even then I'd have better things to do than to gimp one paticular stat to 0.

I can just picture a newbie trying this and then getting pissed that his stats got reset.

yea really this idea sucks...i never heard of anyone wanting to go from cap to n00b on the same class...

If this were put in the game, I would love to see the first monk that accidently reset their capped INT instead of their PSI or DEX.

IME, most people that re-roll to try something new will want to change class. I don't see an advantage to this.

OTOH I can't see it screwing anything up either.

I think this wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, so I don't know what you lot are bitching about. It's just another way to solve the capped player boredom syndrome, and at least this one isn't destructive to the game's playerbase (i.e. - go gank all red n00bs until they get so sick of it that they quit, and so on.)

Besides, some people live for the levelling treadmill. o_O IMO, if this were to get put into the game, it would definately have to come after some more vital things like balancing and bug fixes though.

Also, to balance this out, I think it should cost like 1 mil per skill reduction and set you at 100% SI, and you can't do it again until you're back at 0% SI.
