In a dos window type :-
ipconfig /all (This will show current network/IP settings)
ipconfig /release (clears existing IP lease, if there is one)
ipconfig /renew (Grabs a new one, if it can contact a DHCP server)

If the problem is simply that your box cant find a DHCP server that will talk to it then we need to look at other stuff.
Tell us how your network is set up, and how you would normally access the 'net.

Issue 2: You probably just clicked through the HAL selection when you installed, leaving it on "ACPI Uniprocessor PC".
You need to select "ACPI Multiprocessor PC"

If you just typed "ipconfig" into the Run box, yes.

Hence why I said type into a dos window.

Run -> command -> *then* ipconfig /whatever

If you mean that the output of ipconfig is too long for your command shell settings, then just resize the window.

ok, this is pissing me off.

if i do a release or renew it don't like it says an error i forgot

I try to install it by the ISP cd's (ntl) and it says no DHCP asigned to any network card.

I try doing it manually it recognises the connection and makes one, but it sends like 100 packets in 3 mins and recives jack shit

some one talk me threw this plz :mad:

sounds like it could be a ISp problem more than your system. Giev NTL a phone, they might be abel to talk you through it.

Its a helluva lot easier to talk through it on the phone than through a forum.
