You see all these APU's with 80/ ranks, and you think to yourself, Hmm, is it worth me not capping a holy lightning without a psi 3, and having this bigger psi pool, or should I have less psi pool, cap a holy lightning, and not need a psi 3.

So thats my question.

What is better?

Capping a HL without psi 3, but less pool

Or Needing a Psi 3 to cap HL, but having a large pool

Need some answers from people, as ATM i manage fine with a pool of about 350, just curious if having a large pool is a better thing

Totally depends if you got a DS or not, IF you got a ds its worth goin the way of not needin PSI 3, cause you still get around 370-380 pool, without its kind of hard.

And melee 3 just makes you sooo much better in OP fights.

Depends on how often you play with a PPU backing your ass, I'd say. :p

A large mana pool is nice to have, but not necessay. Psi boosters solve everything.

Yup I got a DS.

Currently using Psi-core/DS/Attack2/attack3/PA3

Hm then its fine i think if you get 181 apu or so you cap the dmg on your HL and your fire apo. and if you go pure PSU you also cap frq, not sure if you cp frq on HAB but if not you wont miss much.

174 APU
384 Psi pool iirc

i cap HL and FA

dont think there is any point in attempting to cap the barrels with the shite rof

I haven't managed to have 380 pool and capping rares with the new changes in DS and Core.

If you ask me, I preffer to not depend of psi3. You still take advantage of a ppu with melee3 instead psi3, and also you don't have to worry that much for the buffs.

It all depends on your gameplay tho, with a bigger mana pool and psi3 your damage output and your versatility using HAB+Damage are increased, you will have less health and will depend more from ppu's as a counterside.

My honest opinion is that the current specialization required for monks in order to either cap mana or cap damage is too great. Previously monks were not able to do both, but the mana pools weren't as gimped if capped main attack spells, or the damage in spells was not as reduced if we wanted to cap mana.

The Psi Core and DS changes shouldn't have been undone without a way to compensate mana in my opinion. Mana for monks is as Health for tanks at my eyes.

//edit: Stigmata you cap HL/FA with the new changes in Core/DS and only 174 apu?
I admit I haven't used my monk in a time, but did not know I was so rusty in numbers.

Can you check that please, I'm going to re-check it later also.

i cap HL and FA

You can only cap a HL with 181 APU - any less and u dont..ROF U can cap, but dmg no way. Not with 174 APU

APU Damage: 0.65(65%) APU + 0.35(35%) PPW + -0.3(-30%) PPU

Gotta remember that, my APU sucks anyway, so no other comments =)

More pool = better than 10-15% more damage on HL

Pool is very important. Every apu should have 110 ppw after imps.

More pool means more ppu ownage. More debuffing. Etc....

Sadly I cannot believe in this... at those levels 1 APU point is like 4 ppw points :(
Not sure how those formulas are calculated, but I know the damage is not linear.

stig's numbers are accurate before the decrease of PPW bonus on DS and core. Now u need 181 apu to cap dmg on HL and FA (tho u might be like 647% so 1% off) and get like 350 pool.

I prefer larger pool, you can shoot like a machine gun longer. which is more damage than capped damage and few shots.

Just a slight Point of Information - hybrid nerf = 5% now, not 30%
