Ok, we've been debating this on the SXR Forums, but I still don't buy it. I took 20 screenshots of an OP hack with FN when he was a pure tradeskiller, no RCL or WPW. Then I lommed him to a droner... 25 more screenshots later, the hack screens are virtually THE SAME.

HCK 105
INT 102
DEX 127
RCL 0, then 185

If RCL or WPW made *any* difference, the hack screens would show some sort of difference after adding 185 WPW and 185 RCL.

So there's some skill guide that says Hacking: 0.9(90%) HCK + 0.1(10%) RCL.... where is it? If the number of nodes, number of possible connections on my side, and number of possible connections, stays the same on average with a difference of 185 RCL (18.5% hack difference?) then Hack itself has a cap like the resists do at which point, it makes absolutely no difference.

Maybe if I had 50 hack and 185 RCL I would see a difference, but I can tell you, for an in-game fact, that the difference between 105 HCK and 0 RCL and 105 HCK and 185 RCL, (practically) doesn't exist.

So what's goin on?

perhaps it was the CPU side of it that got "dumber"?

like, it moved slower, made more stupid oves or something.

Just something Im sure i remember back from me hacking / droning days.

Someone said once that hack caps at 110, I don't remember who or when or whether that is valid tho. It had something to do with a bug many patches ago that doubled hack difficulty, and a regular player with 100 hack and a GM with 255 couldn't open a warbot.

for ops, I can say that there very much is a difference between 110 and 120 hack

I have 116 natural hack (specced INT points and IMPs, zero RCL), and I notice vanishingly little difference hacking OPs with that, or selfcast Spy 1 (121 HCK) or PPU cast Spy 3 (136 HCK)

Clanmates who are borderline (say 105 HCK) seem to fail an awful lot more than I do.

From the Skills Guide we can see that RCL is about 10% as contributive as HCK, so that would make 185 RCL very roughly the equivalent of Spy 2 boost.

There certainly does seem to be a "soft cap" much like runspeed cap of some description with hack, and it appears to be around the 110 to 115 region. More than that gives an effect so small as to be masked by "noise" from the randomness factors, if indeed there is an effect at all.

Perhaps if you dropped HCK down to 95 or so, then tried with and without 185 RCL (giving an effective 110-ish HCK) you might see a more noticeable difference.
