Neocron Library

Why isnt there a library in Neocron?

Make it so it works like a NF deck, with data cubes able to be read, but not taken out, with people having the ability to bring there own data cubes and add storys to the games libraries.

It would be good if you just want to read some tales, burn some time, or generally get some knowledge about the Neocron Story

The neocronicle could be read there also.

Im not talking City Com's a proper 'library' where we can play cyber chess + chat and read data cubes.

I just think it would be neat :cool:

Great idea. I can imagine the hordes of History texts, and the explanation on PSI section. Journels of Evil Beings in the wastelands, and Construction manuals. :)

Remember that the Ceres disks are not availiable to the general public.
Somewhat ironic considering free acces for all was the whole point of the Ceres wars.

yes i agree, maybe some more role playing specific buildings would be good too, giving more options to the game allowing people who want to pvp to pvp, and people who want to roleplay, roleplay. :)

Yup U got it Benjie, would be a great place for noobies to learn, as people could add data disks on skill guides, or good leveling spots.

A good place to make contacts. And the added stories made by players will allow for them to 'feel' what an OP war is all about at higher levels.

It doesnt neccaserily have to look old, but it ill leave that down to KK :D

Awesome idea, but if you mean that the data in the library will be written by us and KK, I don't think this will work because I think they should invest their time in more important things like fixing FRE's, balancing etc and not writing stories. Library with player stories is a great idea, but if there's a library in NC, the neocron history pages should be there, but players shouldn't write them on their own.

Maybe just add a library with copy+pasted neocron history and leave the rest for the players, so KK won't need to invest time on writing new stuff.

They don't have to do it at once, just articles slowly added over time.

Thats a great Idea ... i think the Job Center at P2 would be a good Place for it. Everyone can reach it without gettin smacked from the CA Guards and the Job Center is at the Moment an useless Building in my Opinion.

Because KK are busy with there own plans and stuff for DoY, they might think making a whole new libary too much work.

Another option could be to have vendors in a cool place that sell these recordable datacubes with the history on for stupidly high prices, so no one, unless they want a collectable, would buy them out but people could go to the vendors and look at the info of the books.

This is something that wouldnt be that hard, we could even make all the datacubes ourselves using the already written history of neocron, and all the information we know for guides ect, then submit it to a GM or FC to spawn an NPC to sell them (asuming you can make them sell custom items)

Just trying to think of a suitable place for them to be placed thats closest to a library or hostorical place.

Still, a fully blown library would be the best, but I'm just trying to think of realistic alternatives.

one - leave job center as it is - its a quite cute place - it's only that too many missions are easily gotten at the citycom that the job center has gotten shafted. I will re-propose my ideas to bring it to its full glory shortly


two - oh hell yes. The Neocron Library is NOT a new idea... Look in my Massive Idea Novas (number two Nova, I would think)... one year old now.. heh...

three - yes, make it so that BOTH KK and players can upload content to the Library. Make it simple... Make it so that players can turn in recordable datadiscs that they made to a Libararian NPC that scripts the cube and puts it into circulation.

Since this idea's been proposed before, Five Stars.

True the Job Center is a nice Place but if we are honest ... who needs it really? I mean when someone wants a Mission he goes to the next CityCom and take one. I wouldnt have a Problem with it if you can accept Missions only in the Job Center but until that ... why dont make an useful Place of it? Anyway thats just my Opinion about that.

They're bombing the Stock-X center because you can buy stocks off the cityterm, ffs.

I LIKED THAT PLACE! Especially the private seaside promenade....

I proposed that Stocks only be buyable from the Stock-X shops and the Stock-X Bank, and that the Bank have special NPCs that kept long-term (a week's worth fo stock trends) and gave hints on what stocks were gonna be good or bad, perhaps even business gossip.

But... no.. its gonna be a fucking pit of lazy consumerism now.

Good idea. I think I posted something like this when I first started playing NC. I would also like to see a "blueprint" section that would contain ALL lvl 1 and 2 implants and the lower end weapons.

Library should contain only readable Infos. Ok the Weapon and Implant Blueprints are just Infos too but you need them to earn some Cash. I would like to read Storys from Wars and things like that. Or usable Infos how to make a good Hunter/Tradeskiller ... would be nice :D

Sure I´ll give a hand.. but I think I floated over a post saying make recordable datadiscs buyable..

well I have written a few of these... and to make a "book" there just ain´t enough... you can arely have a poem in those cubes..


for a long time I have been trying to get in possession of "tronik parts" for the "empty book".. I have multiple of everything needed except tronik parts.. tbh I don´t think I have ever seen a tronik part.. and apparently GMs aren´t allowed to spawn these so runners can see if the "empty book" is as rumors say it is.


but if the "empty books" can contain unlimited characters and can be rewritten..

then the only thing I see should be changed on them for a library to be viable is :

-Make them storebought/ more easy to obtain
-Give them a "lock" option, so when you borrow them to people they will require a password to rewrite them.

That's such a great idea. I'm looking forward doing some research about misterious spots in the wastelands or doing research about the mutants or the beasts of the wastes.
