combat rank should be abreviated as "cr" imho

some useful abreviations for caving:


Caving = maxing your character in the Chaos Cave (mostly at TG).

run =one walk-through to the end of the cave and back

team = get me on your team, if there is one.

barrel = Caution, me (APU) is going to use my uber Energy/Fire Barrel-Spell. Get out of my way ASAP (fastest way to get rid of a bunch of chaos lieutenants and soldiers).

haz = cast Hazard 3 on me

psi = cast Psi Boost 3 on me

haz/psi = gimme both

rc, hc, pc = cast rifle, heavy, pistole, combat on me

sd = shelter me (forget deflector, useless in cave)

heal = heal me with a holy heal.

rezzing = guys, slow down, your only ppu is trying to resurrect a dead player.

leut = a Chaos Lieutenant is waiting around the corner

behind = a creeper spawned behind the team. Kill it fast!

shitty bat run = a run in cave where there are lots of chaos vampires in stead of soldiers and lieutenants (usually the case when some morons reenter the cave too early after a previous run)

empty = cave cleared

grim = there is a grim or a herd of of them waiting outside the cave (usually the case at TG cave). People be careful.

BD/TT = BD or TT runners are raiding TG. Stop caving and prepare to die...:rolleyes:

afaik chaos caves mobs does poison/force damage, so shelter is useless deflector isnt.
p.s. afaik - as far as i know ;D

The ranged attack of Chaos mobs is pure poison as far as I can tell, and therefore shelter doesn't help. They also have melee attacks however which are piercing, and therefore deflector can help in this case. However, it's generally inadvisable to stand toe to toe with a Chaos mob anyway, better to stand back next to cover so you can dodge back when your health is low. The exception of course being melee tanks - it's a good idea to cast deflector on them. ;)

Maybe a bit off-topic. But I really have to correct this. The mobs do poison dmg, yes. And Shelter DO help in cave. I've tested it with my PE. You take round half to 1/3 the dmg when you got shelter on than without (depends on your overall poison resist).

Deflector is useless though. Some people say the cave mobs dont do piercing at all its just the gfx. Some say the percentage of the piercing dmg is so small that deflector is simple a waste of mana. Regardless what's true, my personal experience is people got deflector on receive the same amount of dmg as peopel without def. And as far as i can see no protection-animation pops-up for people with deflector got hit by the chaos mobs (while they do with shelter).

So with a medium poison belt, viper king armor (VKA, got that abreviation already?) and shelter on, my PE can solo a chaos soldier without having to dodge for cover. Without Shelter I'm usually forced to heal me twice before finishing him.

EDIT: as far as the melee attack concerned it's true. However, as you point out, no other classes except melee tank/PE need deflector. And people going on melee in cave ususally piss off others :)
