Hello guys my account was hacked yesterday i have ritten off to helpdesk hope hey can help.
if anyone see's any of my charectors i surjest you do not trade with me till this is sorted. I apoligise to the ppl who were scammed by my charectors. IT WASNT ME i hope that help desk can sort sumthing out. charectors (fool / tankfool / psi-fool / abstract) i am sorry about this but as i have said it wasnt my fualt you were scammed and also isnt my fault i was hacked.
making sure you don't get yar ass hacked in the future:
- go over a proxy
- use a av like nod32 [to make sure you don't have trojans in the background]
- never save your NC password over client.exe [it is encrypted and stored in regedit but can be bruteforced with time and a big list(check it yourself at \\HCU\Reakktor\\ - just pointing it out)]
- change your internet security options [avoid getting malicious files and targetting cookies]
- in any case add a number to your password [somewhere in the middle (makes it harder to crack/guess)]
- make sure your alt's name isn't the same as your account name
- make a guest account to your computer and disable access to the hd/partition your NC copy is installed in
- make sure you turn on the ms firewall (if your on XP), or use 3rd party software [McAfee firewall, ZoneAlarm]

Never give out your user and password. Never ever ever. Sorry If you didn't.

Another user gets hacked. Or "hacked" if he has shared his account.
There's a pretty fucking big difference there.
Somehow I get the impression that the guy has scammed some
people and are now trying to blame it on that he got hacked.

Ok..maybe being a tad daft here...but :
How did you know people got scammed by your characters? Did you logon?
As you point out not to trade with your characters..why not reset the password now if you know your password?
Or maybe it's cause you actaully scammed ppl as mentioned in this thread.
Personally hackers usually just strip the chars kit and appts of everything and thats it.
Sounds a bit odd you aren't really worried about your stuff that i assume you lost...yet you want to make the point that the scamming done by your characters was not you.
i am at the neocron weekend i have spoken to danae everyone on the neocron weekend has the chance to look at my account if they like i do not scame ppl. i have honnestly been hacked. ive ritten away i hope they can fix it. i do not share any of my accounts never have never will.
if you think im lieing then that is your opinion i have only posted here as a warning. nothing more nothing less.
im not conserned about my lost items because i have a few friends who will help me reclaim my items. i didnt have any MC5 chips as that would be the only item i would be worried about i know my charector was scamming because one of my m8s told me and when i logged on i was also pmed by a few ppl.
my password is changed but tbh this is my 3rd hacked account 1st chipmunk then American Pornstar and now foo. tbh there security is slack. ive done everything i could to protect myself but i was still hacked.
you can get new items.. but its a lot harder to get a new reputation.

I don't want to sound critical, but why would it be a security lapse if you have been hacked 3 times, but I, and all of my friends, have never been hacked. Perhaps you are doing something wrong? It is all too easy to blame a third party for your loss of privacy, but you losing yours three times and nearly everyone else never losing theirs truly suggests to me that something is being done incorrectly on your part.
Did your other accounts, when you got hacked, get used for scamming as well?

im not blaming anyone the neocron password security isnt the hardest in the world ya know. but anyone i cba to get all my charectors into positive solight from - 40 god knows how he did that with my ppu :/
I WORK AT THE LOCATION OF THE NEOCRON MEETING I KNOW HOW TO RUN SECURITY ON PC's THANK YOU VERY MUCH. (wireworld befor anyone ask's)

Probably because of the large playerbase, you might not be "important" enough to tempt a hacker some people may just enemy with the wrong people.
it's easy to say me or none of my friends of been hacked, because it hasn't, but what IF you got hacked and everyone turned around and basically said the same and kk to would you be best pleased?

i dont know if my other charectors were used to scam or not. all i know is that this account was used to scam i only know because i was told my a Rl frined when i was being acused and when i logged on and found all my stuff missing.
Again it needs to be pointed out that if this was ACTUALLY a full "hack" one has to wonder why the hacker would login to ONE account and simply try to scam people in game, rather than doing something more damaging to the gave overall.
I wonder how many of the hack victims used IM progs or IRC...

This is why my account login and password are only used for NC..
Hell the first thing a hacker has to do is find your login name, then your password, either on it's own is pretty worthless...

aye that was funny i found it funny i was trying to do missions with fistacuffs with no weapons ect its hard :/ looks like fool wont be played anymore as kk still wont do anything to help me :(
i am trying to equipe my tank atm but it is hard with no money or weapons. a few of my m8s are helping me but its hard. if anyone wants to talk to me i will be on tankfool and i have taken extra steps to keep myself from being hacked / i also dont use irc ect.

Not really. Everyone seems to share there accounts with other people. Take Dark for example, I never have any idea who i'm talking to in that clan because everyone has everyones login info. The same goes for most of the big clans.
NCAT on uranus is imo controlled by an octopus called slut and he has access to everyones character in the clan, explaining how they can all be on at once...
password sharing has gotten stupid in every mud/mmorpg with
more than 1 years lifespan.

I was playing the game, and then when I logged out I noticed in red letters: " speedhack detected " , which was written on the screen where you click enter before you choose your server.

Still, it's nothing to worry about it, it's a message Neocron (normally) gives if you send to much information at once to the server. For example, if you use something a bunch of times when you're lagged.

speedhack means nothin really, heh
back in beta 4 you'd get booted from the server every 10 minutes by a speedhack detected message

even a lot of people who have been hacked and deny sharing their accounts have probably given their PW out at some time to a close ingame friend to just login real fast and see something, or even share their account info with RL friends, who maybe stupidly gave out the account info.
if i ever had my account "hacked" I'd say, "well shit, probably my mistake for sharing my info with my 5 RL friends...who knows who they gave it out to when they were wasted" or something
