MmMkay?

ATM, you can have a lovely High-tech rifle spy, Low-tech Rifle spy, High-tech pistol Spy, Low-tech rifle Spy. Same goes for PE's. And they are, pretty much, viable for PvP (ok, maybe not spies ^^) and good for PvM.

But, I just had a brainwave.... LOW-TECH MELEE AND LOW-TECH HEAVY-COMBAT TANKS!!!

ATM, Tanks, to be good in Op wars/PvP etc. NEED a CS/DG. Now, I know KK are adding the 2 new melee rares (Rare Baseball bat, Rare Knuckles) which _COULD_ make low-tech melee viable. But what about HC?

Rare HC/TC AoE weapons - Malediction, Doombeamer
Rare HC AoE weapons - Moon striker

Moon striker has higher reqs that Mal, but Doom beamer is 5 TLs higher. Meh.

Mmkay, so, we got the DEV. The dev is great, overpowered, great for OP wars etc. But theres not rare 'burst' weapon for Low-tech HC. Dont particulary need a rare Gat, got Speed gun (but a rare gat would be nice). Sooo... to all the devs reading (um... 0?) could you, pwetty pwease make Low-tech HC tanks viable?

Muh.

Lowtech melee IS viable .....

im lowtech melee, ask trillian what i did yesterday at elfarid to SXR, or eXo what i did to 8 of their guys at MB.

it is viable, lowtech melee and hitech kicks ass, and imo, lowtech melee > Hitech melee. I seem to do greater damage with POB then a DG.

Tho, i wouldnt mind a boost ;)

One advantage of lowtech melee is the fact you can get 168 agility =) meaning you can lower your athletics to have slightly higher resists.

[Edit] Dev IS a burst weapon O_o does 4 shot bursts like a CS, asin you can get upto 4 poison stacks on someone. Its also like a raygun where it does bonus damage up close.

But how often do you see Low-tech HC tank at OP wars? O_o . Next to never, its always Tanks coming out with DEVs, getting someone to half HP, whipping out CS and blasting them to pieces. Low-tech HC needs a weapon like a CS.... and NOT the Speed gun >_<

They just don't think of being lowtech HC tank..
They got: Devourer, Judgementday Launcher, Moonstriker, Speedgun. It's the same really for lowtech pistol/rifle too.. PE is 93, Libby is 91...

Devourer is the most powerful weapon in the game right now, and paw of bear is probably the best melee considering it is full pierce whereas devil's grace is just pierce/energy, so harder to resist. If you ask me Tanks can easily go lowtech.

Why as a tank would you ever need to go lowtech?

When u can have 89 high tech and 117 agility?

U arent going to run any faster.

What a stupid thread.

if you have high AGL, then you can have lower ATL and therefore more resists. simple.

p.s.
Run Speed: 0.26(26%) ATL + 0.26(26%) AGL
Jump Height: 0.15(15%) ATL + 0.15(15%) AGL

Low Tech Tanks are plenty viable right now, both as MC and HC.

AGL boost argument is a nice way to put it but personally I think that bonus in itself is enough to make low-tech viable.
PEs get the same thing on a larger scale (but it's more of a case of the sacrifices you make) - more defence for less offence.

It's how things are you cannot, and will never, be allowed it all..

Melee is viable, especially in close quarters with large numbers also it will be even more viable when the changes made by lupus on the test server hit retail.

i'm not convinced about going lowtech for melee for one good reason though - without TC you can't use thunderbolt.

i realise it's percieved as a niche weapon, but it has it's uses:

1) in MC, every little helps, and fooking up someones aim even slightly is a desirable effect.
2) slowing down another MC opponent is also highly useful as MC are very hard to hit.
3) it's handy for mobs too - especially our new supercharged bots that outrun the servers ability to locate our hits.
4) on the subject of the servers ability to locate our hits, the thunderbolt is a good way to stop the simple tactic of turning your back on an MC and running away. lupus has stated that this will not easily be fixed, so i'm holding onto my thunderbolt for this reason.

Hey lowtech pistols are great, the wyatt earp misses shots at point blank while looking like a brick, while the lib has better aim then a cs on 193% aim.

I say leave lowtech pistols and rifles alone.

on a tank, self buffed? i'm sceptical. but, if so, you can put those points into HLT. if you OVERcap all your resists, including POR, and cap your HLT then you're probably just dreaming it. (lol).

Because they want to be different to the norm?
They want to try something other than the standard cookie cuts?

I think it's good people trying to be different as atm i believe specialisation fcuks half the game up...... back in teh day it was good seeing mix weapons on a class
