Test Server Query - Why Wont It Work?

Here's an easy one, (Hopefully)

Trying to get my Test Server install of Neocron working again.

Now, fresh from the install, I've got all the patches in, right up to
Patch 223.

I have the new Launcher too.

However, when I hit the Launcher, it comes up with the usual box, but with 'Action Cancelled' and it doesn't connect to the greeting page.

It's also still showing the old Launcher box, not the new one with 'Check Files'

What the hell am I doing wrong?

Check that this entry is in your neocron.ini file in \Neocron:


NETBASEIP = "62.140.29.55:7000"


Next go into the \Neocron\ini directory and open up updater.ini. It should contain the following:


SERVERIP=62.140.29.55
PORT=8040
PATCHPREFIX=patches\cp
EXE=Client.exe
GAMESERVERIP=62.140.29.55
HOMEURL=http://www.neocron.com/patcher/index.php

The Netbase IP was different, changed it, but still nothing.

The other section was fine.

When you patched it up, each time it says restart launcher did you run nlsp.exe in the \Neocron directory? Or did you just restart?

It never got that far mate.

Once the Install was done, I ran the Launcher, and NSP thingy, each time, it came up Action Cancelled and did nothing.

And you definitely checked the .ini files in your new directory, and not in your retail one? Because the action cancelled window suggests that the address in updater.ini is wrong.

IP appears in the top right of the launcher window as 62.140.29.55?

I'm running out of ideas. :p

Okay, I did a fresh install, again.

I've changed nothing except the IP's you mentioned.

Now when I run the Launcher, I get the greeting page.

EXCEPT... As soon as I hit Launch, it just vanishes.

What about if you use the normal launcher which is installed, not the updated one?

It is the normal one. This is a fresh install, I've changed nothing except those IP's you mentioned. I'll try with the new one.

ok, ill start from the beginning :) Your installing from disks or dloaded version ? This is the steps to take if installing from original disks.

1) Make a new install of neocron in a different folder
2) Delete the .pak files and any of the others thanatos mentioned, not sure off the top of my head
3) Get all the patches from the ftp site, make sure their the test server ones ;)
4) Run NLSP.exe in the directory for your test server install, It should start patching a few, then tell you to update launcher, each time this happens, run NLSP.exe again
5) Log in because it should be working :) :angel:

Well, there's one solution I can think of but I'm not sure if it's worth it in case it messes up your retail install at the same time. My test install and my retail install are actually the same install. I uninstalled completely (backing up patches etc) and reinstalled to \Neocron. I moved the .pak files to the root directory, and then copied the directory twice, naming one NeoBackup and the other NeoTest. NeoBackup I've not touched, and is just there to save reinstalling. NeoTest I applied the test patches to and works fine. Whether or not it's worth trying for you, I don't know.

Btw do you have a clientliblog.txt file in the test \Neocron directory?
