Spirited Away, is a japanese animated film :)

I forgot to leave my opinions :\
I have seen a few of those films and agree on them mainly. I was unfortunate enough to have seen Dreamcatcher... very bad

OMG! Matrix was the suck Remus! it might have had pretty fx, shame about the COMPLETE LACK OF A COMPREHENSIBLE PLOT.

planning for matrix reloaded and revolutions went like this

Wachowski 1: Hey, i heard a review of Matrix, they say bullet time is incredible
Wachowski 2: Yeah, they liked the story too, it was deep but understandable.
Producer: WE'RE FUCKING RICH!! *snorts coke* MNAKE MORE MOVEIS PLZ SIERS
Wachowski 1: Lets think about the coolest special effects possible EVAR
Wachowski 2: What about the plot?
Wachowski 1: Meh, we'll work on that later.

Find a deep and indepth review of Matrix Revolutions here.

The Matrix: Reloaded & Revoulutions Hahahahahahahaha And you have the nerve to say Terminator 3 was a bad movie? I liked SWAT but maybe just because I am really into that kind of stuff.

I'm gonna have to not agree on a lot of those.

I really liked Dreamcatcher and Terminator 3. Just saw T3 today and the story wasn't bad at all.... But the boob thing in the beginning almost made me turn it off (so fucking stupid) but the action was some of the best I have ever seen in a movie. Dreamcatcher was a much different than I thought it would be... Kinda funny actually. Also Underworld wasn't THAT bad. Worth seeing at least.

Matrix sucked majorly hard, I hated the last two. Anger Managment was prolly the worst movie of the year... and Tomb Raider was also very very shit. I'd have liked it if I was 12.

Best movie of the year has to be Last Samurai followed by LOTR.

No the reason the Matrix movie sucked is because they were bad movies. Only Matrix Geeks thought they were going to be the best movie ever. The first movie had a perfect balance but the second movie had too much in matrix time and crappy cgi and the third one had to much real world with the same shit for too hours.

Seen it :p. It's VERY different to the first one.

IMO it's been a really bad year for movies. LOTR was great and there were a few bearable no-brainers like T3 but most of it was dire. I'm totally sick of holywood insisting on remaking stuff the whole time. Movies like TCM, Ringu Italian Job and Dawn Of The Dead do not need remakes - they are perfect already. As for shite sequels to shite movies I rarely even bother when they are free. I made the mistake of watching Bad Boys II the other night in a fit of boredom and it was unmitigated drivel from start to end.

I'm half tempted to see Last Samaurai but I know it's gonna suck donkey and I'll leave half way through so I can come home and watch a decent samaurai movie. No doubt it's full of clumsy Kurosawa rip-offs and cheesy-gimme-an-oscar bullshit. Still, at least Cruise's god-awful ex-wife won't be in it.

@chojin - General Release for most of asia was in 2001 but because it was such a huge hit there it got limited releases in some other countries too in the same year. I saw it in a UK cinema in 2001 with decent subs and everything. There was an English subbed DVD available in 2002. I have no idea why the general cinematic release was so late in some places. It's a fantastic film as you'd expect from Studio Gibli.

(edited a wee bit by myself)

In regards to LOTR - read the books, that's all I want to say.

"Bruce Almighty" is far from the worst movie, I am not saying that just because I bought it, but he is growing as an actor into more serious roles, and not just that silly "dumb and dumber" and "Ace ventura" role type. Obviously some people hate it.

I bought "Pluto Nash" (Eddie Murphy) the other day, and almost cried when I saw it. I feel sorry for mr. Murphy, he has lowered himself to such stupid levels, it must be seen to be true. Now THAT would be an excellent choice for a "worst movie of the year" award.

"Ghost ship" was ok, far from a great movie, I can understand why they put it there. It got great FX, but really, it's boring. I expected to jump a lot, but sadly it never happened. The opening horror scene is excellent, though. After that, everything is pretty much dead. Even worse, the ending makes it clear that they are thinking about making a sequal.

MATRIX: I got Matrix, Reloaded and Animatrix on DVD. I would never rate those as "best movie of the year". I am a sci-fi and action fan, but this is mostly movie FX showoff. For sci-fi movies to make you think, I prefer A.I. and 2001 / 2010.

Have heard "Spirited Away" is great. Am getting into anime (got a couple movies), and I will buy it for sure.

"Dreamcatcher" - I believe you really should read the book first, in order to understand what the movie is about. Have not seen it yet, but I loved the book.

"The Core" Got it as an X-mas gift, it would be rude to return it I guess. Boring movie, but ok to watch when you got nothing else to do.

"Laura Croft - cradle of life" - I got the first movie, but don't want to buy this one at all. I don't even like the first one very much. I don't pay full price for a movie like this to see a pair of boobs. I'd rather buy some cheap porn then. Not that I have any porn...

"Terminator 3" I will say it again: T3 was NOT meant to be a serious movie - they even admitted it in interviews. They knew they could not do as good as they did with T1 and 2, so they made 3 a action movie with humour. Sorry for those who really wanted everything to be so bloody serious. I loved it and laughed a lot, same thing with my friends.

I even laughed when watching Coneheads. Poor me.

Seeing as how I am a diehard Terminator fan I am going to fight you on that sundiver. I admit they went a bit over the top with the humor but john mostow still ment for it to be serious. He only added so much humor to lighten up some scence a bit and to make people laugh at first and like the moive. IMHO the ending was the best of any of the three.

Please don't let the movie stop you from reading the book Dreamcatcher, it's a very good book. The movie was ok for me who read the book, but as usual, the book is 10 times better.

The Last Samurai is actually a pretty good film, believe it or not... You should go see it and look for yourself, it may not be the best but it's money well-spent...

Kill Bill > LOTR

Lord of the Rings was an amazing book because of the way it was written. Bringing it to the big screen left it only with it's story - which isn't all that impressive. It was still a good movie and all, I guess, but it wasn't anything spectacular.

T3 was terrible. The ending was neat, but other then that... it was annoying to watch them make that chick look so badass and strong and superior, but all along you know she's going to die eventually. It was as anticlimactic as titanic. Lord of the Rings had the same problem.

The Core was awful. Anyone with a grade 10 level science education would shake their head at the bullshit they spew in that movie.

Anger Management wasn't that bad. It wasn't a good movie, but it's one of those "glad I didn't pay for it but it was entertaining enough that I don't regret putting it on since it was free" movies. Maybe I'm the only one with this category for movies, since I work in a video store as my second job.

Bruce Almighty had some comical satire about religion that can be appreciated. All of Jim's movies are the same format, just like any other comedy franchise. The only exclusion I can think would be Adam Sandler's Punch Drunk Love, which was a good but odd movie.

Underword... hah... the thing about trying to be the matrix, is the matrix was only 1/3 good, so it's like TRYING to be bad, but not in the good way.

As for calling the texas chainsaw massacre bad - don't, that might make them think they did well in recreating the culty-ness of it.

I'm half tempted to see Last Samaurai but I know it's gonna suck donkey and I'll leave half way through so I can come home and watch a decent samaurai movie.

Walking out on movies is stupid. What does this prove? HA! You got my money AND I'm not even going to watch the whole thing. Obviously *I* came out on top here!

Some movies redeem themselves at the end, and walking out only assures you wont see any of the ones that do. Sure, it might make your balls feel a bit bigger, but come on.

I dunno about that - If you've made a bad decision, sometimes it's better to cut your losses and run.

In practice the only film I paid for in the cinema and then walked out of was Ace Ventura 2, which was so bad I demanded and received my money back.

There have been several I very nearly left though and probably would have done if I hadn't been in a group that wanted to stay (Waterworld, Hackers and The Avengers come immediately to mind). In all those cases the beginning was an accurate indication of exactly how awful they were and I would have done myself a favour by leaving as I would have had a better time counting the floor tiles in the corridor.
