Bottom line people should be allowed to do what they want. in the case of the event at CRP yes, if I was CA I would want to go kick the crap out of the TG guys defending. Of course the problem arises with the "random" PKing. well if random means a CA runner might kill another CA runner just as soon as he'd kill a TG then he will get punished with bad soullight. It's as simple as that. Id say the checks and balances are what are a going to hold the games PvP together and those should be made better before restricting PKing at events.
I seriously am not a big fan of spawn events because.....well duh we KNOW the outcome, in order for the event to end the invading mobs HAVE to die....i mean in the history of the game has an event with spawning mobs led to the mobs actually winning? no of course not
Maybe we could kill two birds with one stone by having events put in the hands of players
Example:
** A GM will pick a spy TG runner who's been active in the game *
Mike Jager a TG runner has just stolen data on Neocrons security systems
*The runner starts out in the outzone or PP or something (maybe with some friends) and is given a data cube by a GM*
A message broadcasts over world chat
"Scanners have indicated that Neocron's security systems have been breached, it is suspected that valuble data has been copied and Twilight Guardian is involved, this is a request of all combative NC runners to find and eliminate this threat before he reaches his intended destination"
*The runner as a rule should not be able to GR back to TG (possible reason could be the data might scramble during transit or something) The GMs would be ever present and watching that the runner makes it back to TG by "legal" means.*
A system message should be sent to all allied factions of TG saying prettymuch the opposite of what the NC message was
*It is the obligation of TG and the allied factions to protect Mike on his journy back to TG, a good plan on thier side would be to have a car waiting for him at the city exit*
*Anti TG runners shojld be free to use GR's and anything available to kill Mike before he makes it to TG*
*The event ends if Mike dies or makes it to TG safle yand hands a GM the cube
Mike gets a reward (1 or 2 mil or a special imp) for completing the mission
The runner who gets Mikes dog tags gets a reward (same thing) by handing the tags to a GM after mike is dead
This is just a quick example of h;ow the events could incorporate PvP - this particular one doesnt need to change the game at all and it isnt definate who will win, but it is a lot of fun on both sides
