View Full Version : How is your frame rate?

Zanathos

I'd just like to know the kind of frame rates people get while playing Neocron.

The average FPS please.

To those of you that manage to get 40 FPS or higher average.

Then how the hell do you do that? Since as far as I know, people usually get 30 FPS or lower average.

I put 10 - 19... but I get 0 to 29. Have 20 - 29 indoors, 10 - 19 outside, and anywhere from 0 to 1 when monks spam 'spiky lightning' graphic spells. Btw, is there anyway to turn off spell effects and maybe just show the basic effect, like HL would just be a vertical line like the copbot rifle, rather than all that spiky laggy lightning shit?

FPS = utter bollocks

nuff said

i've tried new resolutions, lower detail, D3D settings in meh card options - but none of them work. At the end of the day you cant do anything about it.

Only way of getting better FPS is turning on fog - but that puts you at a shitty disadvantage and isnt worth it

It wont help much, ive got a kick ass computer and my average fps is probably around 23 to 25. In op wars, depending on the magnitude of it, usually around 15 or 10.

How the fuck do you get 40 FPS in Plaza 1 and 20-30 FPS in OP fights!? 8|

I get an average of 15 FPS in Plaza 1, 50 FPS anywhere else including WL and like 5-10 FPS in OP fights.

Haven't dipped below 60fps since I got Les PC Nouvelle. I couldn't even believe it at first, especially since I had vegetation on and everything...

Edit: Haven't been in any big OP fights yet, but I've been hunting Warbies and wandering around Plaza 1 a lot. That usually hammered my FPS on my old system.

Go Alienware! :D

Standing in TH Appy = 200 FPS
Out hunting alone = 40-50 FPS
Team Leveling (chaos caves, graves, ect) = low 30 FPS
(old) Plaza 1 = 15 FPS
Normal op war = 20 FPS
BIG op war = 11 FPS

I would say on average in most small fight situations is about 25. But truely I dont think you could get and accurate FPS. I mean were you look, what zone your in and many other factors change how it is. Really my FPS is all over the place all the time from 5 - who knows what is the highest.

go to seiger uplink and look at the SHIT house behind the op, then tell me what your FPS is :p

can everyone say 'two' :)

30-40 whilst hunting around MB/fire mobs.
15-20 in Plaza 1.
30 in Pepper Park fighting.
5-20 at OP wars.

DigestiveBiscui

20-30 hunting
10-25 in pepper park (used to be more, but they added stupid guards)
10-25 killing in TH (again, used to be more, until they added MORE turrets)
5-20 op wars
5-15 plaza 1

love it

Haha glad I'm not the only one.

I get anywhere from 30 to 72 just wandering around the wastes or nc, 20-ish in Plaza on a busy day, 5-15 at op wars. Blurgh.

Zanathos

I get about the same FPS as you guys and my computer is pretty damn good. Its a year old but still damn good.

Handles Unreal Tournament 2003 just fine
Handles Americas Army just fine, a little laggy at times but its fine.
Handles Wolfenstein Enemy Territory just fine.
Handles Call of Duty just fine.

All of these games are graphically more impressive than Neocron yet I get shitty FPS while playing Neocron.

Doesnt make sense does it?

Id say the Neocron engines need cleaning up.

Whats ur system specs? What drivers are u using? What OS are u running?

Flea
02-01-04, 01:29
Highest FPS i ever got was 30, staring at floor in my apt. I get 10-15 in pepper park, and 5-10 in the wastelands, around 10 in plaza 1.

Dazist
02-01-04, 02:08
Walking around
About 70 when staring floor in smallest plaza apartment. 30-40 when looking around in same apartment. 20-35 when walking in city without anyone around. 2-13 in plaza 1, depends a lot on amount of people there. Protopharm clan apartments citycom centre and viarosso apartments with reflective floor are real fps killers.

Pvp
1-15 in pvp depending on what weapons are used. Cs is fps killer making pvp with my tank almost impossible if I don't have all graphics set to minimum (meaning I can see 20m in front of me, can't see gogu at crp from gr). Aiming with low fps is impossible. I lost with my cs tank to tpc wielding tank in pvp, tpc tank had 50% hp left. Then I set my graphics settings to minimum (impossible to hunt) and beat tpc tank by having 75% of my hp left. Op wars are joke if I don't use monk because of low fps.

Hunting
While hunting 5-25 fps but around buildings and ops even lower. If someone attacks me while hunting I'm probably going to die if I don't run. Don't have time to set my graphics to 'pvp mode'.

Buttons to change graphic settings on the fly would be great. 'hunting mode' with maximum view distance and no object blending. 'pvp mode' with minimum view distance. It would make pvp less computer dependant.

I don't have fps problems in other fps games like Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Tribes 1 & 2 and Hitman 2. Even Unreal 2 runs better on my computer than Neocron and looks a lot better. Delta Force games and Tribes 2 run very well too and they got a lot bigger buildings and better graphics.

Unreal II is the only game so far that forces me to reduce the detail level to attain a stable FPS.

why is it I do that in Neocron and get almost nothing?

Not good.....

Id like to know how some of you are getting massive FPS.

Drake6k
02-01-04, 02:15
Pentium-4 3.0 ghz

I get...
20 - 60 in plaza 1
60 - 90 in MB, TH, or apartment
12 - 40 at grant depending on the mobs :)

It seems to cap at 90 for some reason... jumps around a LOT

out of date engine and direct 3D

the best engine (note BEST, not BEST LOOKING) is the Half Life engine

can run on both 2d and 3d cards

runs well on even moderate system (for that time)

looks good

fucking easy to model for

EDIT: drake6k, vSync may be on (if your monitor refresh rate is 90Hz it'll cap your FPS at 90)

erm lots

p4 2.8
gig ram
fsb oc to hell n back
9800 pro

makes no diff anyway, ive already seen you , shot you 1000 times and run 50 miles away.

then i drop dead.

why? as you saw me for ages on your slow assed 5 fps system (slideshow), and due to the grrrrrreat netcode it registers as a 'hit'

if you can hit whats on your screen, no matter how bad the fps - you will score a hit.

so yes technically lagging out your pc so an enemy stays on the screen, drilling him 50 times and then unlagging so the server catches up and processes the game in retrospect sadly works :/

anyone that votes over 20-29 fps average is either:

a) a liar

b) doesn't do anything but stand around in small corners

ive seen this game run on machines that would BLOW the mind, and it still runs like SHIT in op wars and anything that actually strains the engine

ya i can get 60+ fps np if im not in a fight, but average? i would say 20-29 for sure. i don't have to BS anyone to make myself feel cool tho i guess thats the diff

Since the concept of averages seems to be lost on you, I'll give you a basic intro. An average is a number derived from adding up all the numbers in a system and then dividing them by the number of numbers in that system. My average comes out to 52 and 1/3 FPS. I voted 40-49 FPS since I spend about 1/2 my time in PP and the other out killing fire mobs (gotta pay for my drug addiction somehow). So no, not everyone who voted over 20-29 FPS is a liar/stands around doing nothing, just because your FPS are shit.

Shodan, in reply to ur Q, my rig is:
XP2600 (overclocked the FSB, but with a lower multiplier)
512MB Corsair DDR XMS3200 CAS2 memory (overclocked)
ATI Radeon 9700 (modded to a 9700 pro) using OMEGA drivers and overclocked
DiamondMax Plus9 80GB 8MB cache HDD
Windows 2K Pro
Ingame graphics settings are all on maximum, except vegetation, which as im sure u can guesse, is OFF.

And to g0rt, I am assuming you dont understand numbers, if you think the average FPS is < 30 ROFL

heh just ran it again, highest 75 fps, lowest 20 (those were just from watching the numbers as it plays it), average 39.6 (from details after running the test)

it really is massively gfx card based though, my system crawled on it with my Ti4600 in it, and the card upgrade screams through it now.

Also helps that the 9800pro is a dx9 card where the ti4600 ain't :)

I get around 50-60 hunting by myself (depends on the zone)
Plaza 1 usually around 30-40
And big OP fights i get around 15-30 usually around 22 or 25 or so

AMD 1700 (1.47) running at 2.3 gig
512 megs corsair PC 3200XMSLL
Geforce TI4200 really thinking about getting a 9800 and modding it

I should try changing NC to 16 bit and seeing how that helps. I also run NC at 1024x768 i think not sure and not home to check.

Every where but OP wars i get 40-60fps.

OP wars? The Fogging comes on and I get 20-30fps.

Fogging off in a big OP war? 0-9.

And ive got a shit hot computer.

The thing that makes me laugh, The game looks like shit, ive got a powerful computer, yet it runs like shit!

DAoC runs amazing on mine with uber FPS even in insanely large wars over forts.

Its just a shit game engine.
