Now I've got your attention, all this talk of higher cap's on weapon's use stat's and more level's and higher weapon's got me thinking..

Back in "the good old day's", weapon's had limit's, damage aiming and range all capped out sooner, so rather than having 325% aiming you have 75% and all that (note, not real number's, well they are real number's, but not compairable old to new just two number's pulled from my head, with the higher being the current which let's to aim faster.. which is bad)

ATM, you sped over the needed ammount to get weapon use stat's as high as possible, leading to spesiasiation, and all that, you either go all out and have everything spent on getting the last drop's of power out of your weapon, or are laughed at..

The game's not as fun, this is the problem, in the good old day's, you could spend a few point's on pistol's for up close, some of rifle's to chip away at range and then point's in vehical's or repair or any other for that matter, capped player's where able to use many type's of weapon's and be force's to be reconned with because they could hit you with diffrent weapon's..


Now I'm not saying we should just forget all the improvment's and roll back to 160, I'm saying all this overcapping nonsence has lead to the psi problem's, the ballence issuse's and the boring end game, as of now to be "uber" you've got to be a pistol PE, rifle spy, CS tank or one half of an APU/ PPU team, and to spend point's on vehical's or another weapon is seen as stupid and silly..


let's go back a little in weapon's, let's make em stop getting better after your skilled in their use, bring psi back in line with the other weapon type's.
We've now got more HP, but battle's often last only second's with a change they might last a little longer and seam more "fair"

Hmmm, your cookie cutter exclusion seems to have stopped ANYONE from repling.

But yes, i see your point, would bo cool to use different weapon types on a single character, or even spec for trade & combat..

At the moment if we wanna do anything else we need to buy a second account to give more variety, because each character can only do one thing, 2 skills = teh gimp.

I'm temped to gimp myself and use rifle's and pistol's on my spy... I also plan to use stealth II...


The cookie cutter exlusion's are there to stop the "uber 1337" people.. you know the one's who don't care if it's dull and repetative, they just want to win..

maybe thats the point? 2 accounts per person = the pwn for kk.

remember they are a business after all. Some people seem to forget this and have the mentality that kk is here to serve their every demand. People are lucky they even get all the nerfs they gripe about.

I'm up for anything that will make this game more diverse and fun. Personally, i think the game would be more fun if there were less or NO FRE's and bugs like i had the other day. i was walking through Plaza 1 then i get the error : Serverside correction made and end up in someone's apartment in MB. As a CA, wtf would I have done if I would've ended up in TG o_O

KK are not here to serve our every desire, but if we don't bleeding tell them what we want to and why they won't even know, without poll's like this, and request's nothing would change toward's a game we'd want to continue playing, if that happen's then they would lose player's, even if each player's got two account's they'd soon get to know most of the other player's who play at the same time, and then get bored of rehasing same old right's and talk's... and the game die's..


So, we ask for change, and add a poll so they know how much support they'd got for such and idea.

what u think about q is a "secondary skill".
the problem with that with lowering the caps on all skills you get this uber mixed chars like the hybrids or fighting-trader. that is the combination that KK doesn't want.(me to :) )
what you think aout would be better possible if you can use pistols onvery high rifle skills but simply not as good as a pistol user. but for that the whole combat (skill)system is need to be changed.

(to something like in Shadowrun P&P)

Personally, I think they should just move all tradeskills under their own skillset.

Put repair, construction, research, recycle, vehicle, implant and barter all under one skillset. Realistically, there is no reason a person can't be very skilled with a weapon, and also be very skilled in repairing it.

Of course, make it so to be really good at the tradeskill, you will need to specialize, but you will still be able to level through normal means as well. Just that now, the tradeskills will only level through the use of one of the above. Put tradeskill xp back the way it used to be, where constructors could get good xp from building, researchers got good xp from researching, etc etc. Of course, every class should have it's own limitations on how high their tradeskilling can be.

Perhaps tanks could get 50, monks could get 40, spies get the highest of like 90 and pe's get 70 or 80. I don't think it would be difficult to impliment either.

im all for different weapon types , i next to refuse to take the 50 points i got sittin in melee out jus so i can "uber out my cs" (when i eventually get off my ass and put the effort into gettin one. :D

And i have to admit, i have more fun playin with the blade of ceres then i do with my plasma, nothin like hackin at a WB's legs, then runnin like a bitch before he gets the last hit on yah in:lol:

course ive also theoretically gimped myself with the 50hack and the 50 repair and 40 recyc and workin on the vehic fer hovertech.. guess i jus like bein a Tank JOAT, got a spy buddy who does my res/cst and so i jus gotta make sure i dont die so i dont hafta find a poker :p

Im prob gonna die if i go near pvp, (though the blade of ceres shreds up a rog spy, but i still get worked by a well done libby pe)
I might eventually lom out some of the other stuff, i guess its the pure fact, I -hate- having to rely on others to be around to help me

Things I can't understand is this.

The principles for pistol combat apply to rifle combat ,and vis versa. You need to know how to aim, how to pull the trigger, and also speed reloading etc. The fact that pistols were ALWAYS sidearms (there is only the police force in some countries that use pistols as a mainarm) and only used when the mainarms are out of ammo, or you are caught with your pants down, shows that you hardly see people speccing to be a "pistol lord".

Personally, I'd like to see a "Ballistic Skill" instead lf PC/RC. Ballistic skill then specs to rifles and pistols that fire bullet rounds, then a "Hi-Tech Skill" for pistol/rifles that fire energy rounds. Tanks still need heavy combat, to train, utilise and maneuver with a cannon on their shoulders, but would also use ballistic skill and HT skill for their cannons, and as such can use pistols and rifles too.

Msdong... The idea is not to lower level's, nothing of the sort...

It's to lower the overspeccing down to what it once was, so having 200 point's in Rifle's would not be needed to get the most out of weapon XXX, since a lower ammount would have the same effect..


I'm suggesting that weapon's become less effective, not in less effective, but as it they just stop getting better into the aiming 300% area, thing's like that should cap at 120% and such..


It's hard to explain it right so people understand.. You'd use less skill point's to cap a weapon, but the weapon would not cap as high, none would cap higher no matter how many point's you put into Rifle/cannon/pistol ect..

This lower's the diffrence between a capped playing using a CS and somone who's only just able to use it.. the capped player would have the edge, but the damage % and aiming would still be not far from the non capped, as in the diffrence between the aiming damage would be less...

agree. the need to specialize extremely takes away a lot of fun.
Some more free points for some fun skills would be nice.

What i dont understand is, the vast majority of the community have been begging for specialisation to be eradicated ever since it was implemented, but why haven't KK taken the hint? Why are they making the game WORSE in many areas? Dont you understand KK? If you put us back to 160, but with some of the bug fixes we have now, and maybe one or two of the new things (possibly the PAs, stealth, sniper rifle, the new rares, MC5s etc etc) then you make MORE MONEY, cos MORE PEOPLE WILL PLAY!

Ive lommed out all my JOAT type abilities (driving/ gunning/ hacking/ Heavy weapons) to force the best combat potential out of my char... and its the only way you dont get seen as stupid. I really liked driving but when I said I had 65 VHC people started to rofl...:wtf:

Dont confuse what people WANT to do with what KK forces people to do.

You dont have to cap out your gun in order to be effective. No one makes you do that. Even the other players "laughing" at you dont make you do that. You CHOOSE to do that.

This is all already in the players' hands. We choose how we want to play our character.

And here is the jist of things- if you want to be GOOD at something, you have to specialize in it. And that is quite reasonable I think.

If you are NOT the sort of person that obsesses about being the BEST at combat, then you can have a Spy that does the following:

1. Use a Pain Easer
2. Use a Liberator
3. Use a Blacksun/DOY Raypistol
4. Use a DOY Raygun
5. Recycle Ammo for the PE and Lib
6. Have proper run speed
7. Hack at 120
8. Poke at 84
9. Construct at 134 (which is more than capped on a capped spy)

That doesnt sound too bad overall.

Just remember, if you dont obsess about being ubar in PvP, then you really do have a LOT of options in this game.

Id be nice if there was less cookie cutter stuff in this game.

More variety in our characters.....

I really dont have too much problem with the current system.

What I dont understand with weapons though is why oh why do the percentages go over 100 :)

Since when does a gun to 178% dmg? Id figure that its the max damage it can do so why not make the number 100% rather than 178%? Makes more sence and you more realistically know how good your weapon is.

Its off topic I know but meh, I wanted to point this out..... Me go to brain port now. ^_^

Ability to use several kind of guns will only be used in OP wars cause people will be afraid to drop a rare weap in anarchy zones.

But I'd like to add something...

You shouldnt be able to make character that cap pain easer and lib... Just like monks I think trying to spec one skill should lower the others %.

Also KK needs to change all the % numbers from 178, 267, exc and make them all 100% so people dont have to guess on things like freq cap. Then make it much easier to obtain the % (you shouldnt need 180 pc to cap lib freq).


...Then we could all drive vehicles, recycle ammo, repair, or whatever the hell we want and not be gimp.

KK's forcing us to specialise so much has infact stopped us from using vehicles. If the made it slightly less of a gimpage to have VHC i think quite a few ppl would do it.
