Anyone remember back when lvl 3 imps didn't drop and a zerk would cost a few million. Also remeber when CPU's didn't drop. I have to say it was alot of fun and there was nothing like a tank who could only use zerk chips and PA 1. I have to say it was alot of fun.

I have to say nothing was like haveing a char back then no move on no resistor CPU's were near immposible to come by. Tank PA requests were high no PA for other classes.

i remeber i paided about 500k for the zerk3 im still using. i miss the times when seeing a smurf was rare, and just owning a CS was an accomplishment. heh i remeber having to build experimental hearts from rare parts.

Yea took me 3 trys to get a good CS. 2 no sloters with shit stats but finnaly thx to ZAI 3 slot modded all artifact with mod. Tanks sure have change I mean lower PA, herc move on and resistor.

yeah, I remember those days.... and they were fun.
But seriously, the amount/droprate of lvl 3 chips is way too high. They are as easy to come by as a lvl 1 should be.

you need more high level content to feel new nc > old nc. This is the same game you all been playing for months... Once you hit cap youre basically screwed. There is nothing else for you do to other than finetune your resists, get that extra rare with uber slottage which involves pointless hours of harvesting for techparts.

or just pointless fighting in pepper park involving zoning buffing up zoning in taking potshots at the defenders, calling for backup taking over pepper park and calling it ours for an hour then leave because there is a 0/2 without le in the aggies plaza2 to gank.

lol, poison glands ;) they weighed less

but the problem then, was nobody fought to the death, if you were remotely beating someone and they had no chance of escape, they'd stand still and yank all their weapons outta their qb so they didnt drop anything while you finished em off :\

(b4) I remember when cursed souls were first introduced along with
swirleys. The first people I saw with them were FaTaL-WoLf and
iLL-CHiLLY. They went to tech heaven to duel in the core level,
i was asked to spectate. FaTaL won, i remember the nice screenshots
i had (lost due to hd corruption).

(retail) then i remember the regulators creating a new clan of
experienced players which was to be called EON. The word EON
came from insidious-wolf which he uses on his graphic designs.
In the creation of this clan, i was invited to partake in the clan.
I remember meeting serve for the first time and many others.
Then one day while leveling in the swamp caves with clientel aka
III IIIII and Nokulous, I fell asleep after a short break resting on
the bed (2am) only to wake up dead behind the swamp cave
entrance pole. Upon exiting NC, i saw the forum post "EON Exploiting"
and saw many of the famous players of NC's history leaving the
game for good via perm ban. I checked my console.log file to find
a GM logging into FaTaL-WoLf's character and speaking in clan
chat about how shocked he was after the findings and well.. the
rest is history.

I have the original log file, i'll save it me thinks to remember when
KK finally fixed an exploit that existed since the beginning of beta4
and never fixed it after many emails to KK's personal. Then after
one clan's use of the exploit to the max, they knew it was out of hand
and had to finally resolve the problem with a server side "timer"
aka "You have to wait a little longer to perform this action." which
was a temporary solution.. they still havn't found a proper solution.
This timer msg now haunts us all in neocron causing us to not be
able to open apartment doors or right click objects, they still havn't
fixed it.

How did such a devestating exploit get into retail? It's still a mystery
until a KK dev can answer that. To this day there are still many
of duplicated items in circulation which inevitably destroyed pluto
in many ways, quite possibly saturn.

So does anyone remember cash cubes? They don't exist anymore
because KK doesn't trust their solution to dupe explpoitation enough
to put it back in the game. Only reason I can think of up to now.

Remember 2 billion cr cash cubes being thrown off top of medicare
in plaza1?

You'd think KK would have seen something wrong with that which
occured every day in beta. It was a joke, a big one and no one took
it seriously until later in retail.

yes, memories.

Ahh well it wasn't what I was going to write innitially, I have alot
of more positive memories but when I look back, these are the
only things that come to mind. The EON era changed the game
in alot of ways, it showed KK was finally stepping up on exploits
and making the game more fair for other players. But, my home
server Pluto is shaped to what it is today because of this fiasco
in many ways, including the economy and pvp.

I only remember the b4 regulators having one CS and one Devils Grace. Back then melee was actually good in pvp. The first time I saw the CS, I was at yutano mine and lenard came up behind me at the gr. I got a good ganking.

My memories of NC are a little different. I remember when weapons had lower TL's and didnt require you to completly overspec your skills to be competative in pvp or get good stats on weapons. Hell, I had a char all spec'd out before retail came out...I started on it when I got my account back in Nov 02. Then I realized it wouldn't be viable in pvp, a large part of this game. Hell, in beta 2, I could drone and rifle at the same time...doing both effectivly.

Some claim that lack of 'something to do' killed the game. In a way, I agree. On the otherhand, specialization is just as bad. A tank can't do melee and heavy combat really well at the same time. A monk can't be apu or ppu without gimping one of their spells. A spy, well...spies should be tradeskillers anyway...and pe's...pe's can't even be joat's because of it.

hehe

198 HC and 176 melee, thats hybrid tank, 176 melee is all you need to fully cap a DG, and with the right imps and armour etc, you can get 176 melee and 198 HC, thats with HC3 tho so its more of a melee tank with the option of HC during OP wars or with a PPU with em ;)

I remember when this game was actually fun.

(Beta 3)

The first time I ran into a Doom reaper in Beta 3 ended up me being dead and with the 'wtf was that?' look on my face.

The warbots were bigger and shot plasma and rockets. The spiderspots shot plasma also. Now their just... stupid.

You could make your living with tradeskilling and actually level your with it.

I have quite a lot of fond memories from this era. Blue-tech was formed and I was asked to join it when it was new.

(Beta 4)

Well, not much memories from it. After the couple of month break I took from Beta 3 (finally got enought of the 1000th Warbot kill I made). Clans were a new thing. Outposts were a new thing. And there were lots ... I mean LOTS of newbs. Blue-tech was going strong. Didn't play for long 'cause I got bored eventually. With all the bugs going on ^^

(Retail)

Well, I was hooked up with a copy of NC from an old BT member. Thanks to him I got addicted quite quickly ^^ I rerolled my old rifle/droner/researcher spy into a psi-monk, because I had been playing that class in b3 quite a lot.

There's quite a lot to talk about but I got better things to do than reminiscence something that's gone and spoiled by their makers.

People tend to remember the good things and forget the bad things. Some parts of beta were better. Others, were most definitely not...

But I wonder if melee combat on PE would work as well today as it did in beta 4's melee patch...

When eon was around, 7 slot weapons were actually just as common
as 5 slot weapons are now... ;p

That was the best time period of neocron retail for me though,
with EON, Regs, BlueTech, Maas, NAT, NDA...all the conflicts and
good fights that occured were the best.

I remember coldfuzion quite well. My favorite memory of him was
in beta4 though. He was the man who controlled pepper park
when I was just starting to play, maybe 2-3 weeks into beta.
I was scared to leave my apartment because he was the one
with the phospher stacking tangent shotgun...which killed everyone
in 3 shots.

Oh...anyone remember the ammo stacking bug? When you kept
changing ammo for a weapon and it stacked the damage on the
gun... I remember killing warbots with one shot of a colt budget
pistol..10000 dmg.. :)

It was fun while it lasted, the one shot kills on other players were
just too funny, they didn't know what the hell just hit them...a
damn nailgun shot :)

Yep.....taking down WBs with 1 shot from my NAIL GUN-o-DOOOOOOOOM. The bug was actually, whenever your inventory changed. I just dragged things back and forth to my quickbelt till I did enough damage ^^

It was also that same patch when they changed how psys aimed, and because of it we couldn't heal or buff ourselves, just other ppl for about 5 days.
