Friend of mine just bought Neocron, and to save him time, i burned all the patches till 194 for him. However, when he tries to launch it, it continously tries to d/l patch 160 regardless of the fact that its already present in the folder, and once its downloaded, an error message is displayed. When he relaunches the program, it once again starts downloading patch 160.

So i perform the ol' trick of deleting patches 159 and 160, and STILL it gives him an error as soon as he finishes dowloading patch 160.

What gives?

There should be something entitled "US Version Patcher Bug!" in the launcher window, download the updated launcher from the link in there, and use that launcher instead, it should solve the problem.

If that doesn't work, give your friend your own copy of NeocronLauncher.exe, it should also fix this problem.

Already tried using the US Version Patcher Bug. Didnt work.

Gonna attempt to send him the launcher myself now. Will keep you updated. :-)

Its possibly becuase you've already tried patching before updating the launcher.

Uninstall completely, reinstall, add patches, replace launcher (with the bug-fixed US version thats linked on the front launcher page)and THEN run the launcher. Did that myself when having troubles similar to the ones your describing, had it working and running in 5 minutes after the reinstall.

Delete Patche's 159 then start the launcher again, also 180 somthing has the same trouble's just remove the one before and let it DL again..

go on ftp.neocron.com and they go to the retail patches folder and download the neocronlauncher.exe file from there and replace it over your old one, it will work then ;)

MJS, fix this crap before BDoY hits the shelves!

Like this game doesn't have enough problems once you DO manage to get it installed.

New people don't need to go through all kinds of freaky shit like standing on one leg with the fridge open during a hail storm and drinking toilet water from an old shoe just to get the game to patch!

It's a problem with the launcher before one of the earlier patches (Patch 158 or 159, I think), since BDOY will ship as whatever the patch number is then (Presumably somewhere around patch #200), this problem will be solved.

I download all patches and the fixed launcher, install NC, copy over the launcher and put all patches in the folder and then run. Update, restart launcher etc etc. Works every time.

Why dont you just do it the long way and download all the patches like normal. I always do that and it works fine when I have to re-install.

He constantly gets disconnected due to a 56K modem.

Nothing has worked so far, so i think he's just going to have to forgo playing the game.

I do hope the devs fix these problems soon.

My friend has followed every single one of your suggestions delineated in my other thread, and not one of them has worked.

Whenever he attempts to use the new neocronlauncher which the mods here have asked him to, primarily the launcher doesnt show an IP address to copy and paste into the little box.

Secondly, it gives the following error: Game-CD missing. Please insert the 'Neocron' Game-CD (Despite the fact that the CD is already in.)

When he uses the old launcher, it constantly attempts to re-download patch 160 even though he already has it. We've tried the hotfix (i.e. deleting the patch before it), as well as downloading from the FTP site.

What now?

dunno, but as for the game CD error i dont suppose his machine has multiple CD drives?

cos mines a bitch 2 drives both run EVERYTHING on both yet morrowind will only run off one o_O if i use the other drive it gives the no cd error, so perhaps use another disc drive i guess.

no i didnt say delete the old launcher....

i was having the cd problems as well, the problem was after i replaced the old launcher with the new one, it generated another .exe file not called neocronlauncher.exe but called neocronlauncher_.exe, i killed it and it solved my problems.

erm...i know its the really boring and long version but how about using the auto updator to download EVERY patch again..

um.... didnt you use full install where you dont need the disc? obviously not, but if you cant get it to play use the full install so disc aint required.

We always go for the full install options on any game we buy.

Which is whats confusing me. Why does it ask for a CD when we dont even need one to play?
