Getting ready to do a 3DMark2K3 test once I get the updates done.

Nope, I had the Soundblaster and Radeon 9000. I paid $300 even for the top parts.

Thats a $434 machine which imo is better. That also includes alot of other stuff, like harddrive, mouse, speakers. cd burner, etc. Also that machine is put together by some company that mass builds machines like alienware, or dell, etc; which usually means the price isn't as low as it would be if you went out did some shopping and bought your own parts.

Not a bad rig you spec'd out there, except for the video card. GeForce 2 won't get you far now a days. But seeing a price like that is a kick in the balls.

What you configured isn't saved so I can't see it. What I posted was just a really quick example I could come up with.

PC2700 512mb is around $47
PC3200 512mb is around $66
ATI Radeon 9000 = $50
Soyo Dragon KT600 Version 1.0 Release Mobo Socket A = $75
Antec Metallic Bronze Case with a Antec 300W Power Supply = $65
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton running at 333 MHz FSB = $85
Creative Soundblaster 512 = $10 - $15

Those are average prices in my area and online.

So with tax that is a pretty decent deal he got there. Next time try and not to call me dumb.


To CerealKiller: If I were you and had the cash I would upgrade my video card and maybe sound card (don't know how well it actually works for you). You can get a Radeon 9800 for about $150-$175 and a decent sound card for $50 or less.

I think you need a racing stripe and some furry dice on it too, or a sticker saying "This is not a star trek lunchbox".

I haven't bothered doing a custom rig in a long time but if I would it would be something like this...

No box, or the box would be built into the furniture in the room so I Could not see or hear it.

Remote mouse/keyboard.

Large flat widescreen that could also switch fully or PiP with TV/Cable/DVD.

Web tablet that links to the box as well so I can sit back and use that console instead.

Voice activated and talks to me in a real human friendly voice with important stuff (eg. You have 5 mail messages waiting).

just gonna do a bit of craftmanship and put a few scripts into a website and let that website be ur active background in windows.. and make the script go check mail in your inbox and get a full set of female computer voice sound files saying all numbers 0-100 and make the script count unread mails and set the on value="value"; x:\youhave.mp3; x:\"value".mp3; x:\newmessages.mp3.

Low end machine? Low bus speed? Christ... the max you can go on an AMD as far as I know is 400, and I spit on Intel....

The Sound Card works great, I don't feel a need to upgrade that, but I will be picking up a new Radeon in the near future.
