Ok I know it is a game but is it mmorpg or just plain rts(i saw it for £4.99 not sure if I should get it or not)

AWSOME game of its time, has a pretty good story too.

I await the day star craft 2 will come out.

I would rate it as one of the best ever. There are few games that I played as much as I did starcraft.

Yea I play it a bit fun at lans and every now and then I can have real good time playing some old school starcraft.

Aye, StarCraft was one of the best RTS games ever! Better than Red Alert IMO. Broodwars added some interesting new stuff, but just got too damn hard eventually (for me anyway).

I still take it down off the shelf every now and then and give the enemy a damn good thrashing. :)

what you have to remember about SC is it's a game of counters, every unit has it's counter unit that defeats it, it's a matter of using the right counters mixed in with some tactics, especialy with toss carriers sneaked round the side of an enemy base ;)

Starcraft is just one of the best ( if not the best) RTS's ever made if you have played RTS at all you should know this game.

I agree for the most part.

And about the units being 'clones of each other' - once it boiled down to some real battle, someone knowing how to use a particular side was very deciding. Only the basic buildings and beginning units are similar.

As for the custom units, brilliant. :)

I used to have a savegame of metal heck in Total annihilation which showed what the maximum units my CPU could handle (Celeron 400)

Came out on 2800 units :) After that the CPU didnt have enough power to let the newly builded units to roll out of mah 35 factories.

starcraft has 2 be my number 1 strategy i would think wat was life without NC wat would i do on my comp it would be starcraft. aint played in a year tho get it trust me it owns

Its a very good game, still enjoyable to this day. I enjoyed Red Alert 2 and Age of Empires 2, but StarCraft is still my favorite RTS. Hope they make a StarCraft 2 some day.

In single player mode for terrans. The best combo Ive ever used was

Siege Tanks to siege, Goliaths to clean up the base and take out air units.

Never really use much else in single player.

Well when i play i always prefered 2v2 sahred maps. I would have loads of tanks and goliathes. Tanks in teh front sieged with goliathes infront of them. Not to include i build about a minimul of 30 starports and about 20 factories. I jsut keep pumping em out.

Against the computer, I tend to use only goliaths :p gotta REALLY watch out for the protoss high templar storms

Against humans.....

What could go wrong with siege tanks, marines, goliaths wraiths and science vessels? Lets not forget the occasional nuke while they are distracted ^_^
