what are some others? NC really being my only online type game other than say starcraft some years ago.....but thats not really nothing more than a strategy type game anyways...i basically ask, well because I can pretty much say ive done it all in NC...ive for parts, built pretty much all rare weapons, done all the epics(even the ones with a temp reward)....i can definitely say ive killed every single mob in game(and probably almost all the NPCs =P) aside from each type of the kami mobs, however did kill 2 APU kami mobs shortly after they were introduced to retail...been to mc5 got a herc and a hawking and a SA....rerolled to every class and have played and capped each class...used melee, HC, PC, RC, APU, & PPU....so basically my days are limited to just logging on here or there doing the pepper park thing...some MB raids....etc etc...frankly I can honestly say Im bored with this game(which is actually not bad considering how long ive played), that and my accounts been hijacked by a friend who seems to have that newfound love for it as i once had when i first played it...so ill let him have his fun....

now by all means dont consider this a leaving thread for one i doubt anyone would care if it was...and more importantly its not...Im sure as long as NC is around my account will remain active.....but Im just looking to say....broaden my horizons Ive thought about SWG....but everyone ive talked to about it said it gets old fast and its just plain...."eh"....so aside from SWG and planetside which ive also heard sucks what are some other cool online games with a similar roleplay style like NC?

All the other ones suck.

Everquest, DAoC, Anarchy Online, SWG, Shadowbane, FFXI, and AC2 are all boring as fuck. Mindlesss leveling tredmill, takes forever to cap a character and when you do... it's same shit. Click on something then just sit back and watch your character fight on his own... over ... and over... and over...

Oh and Planetside is fun for about two hours. Then your sick to death of it.

I did like Earth and Beyond all the way through beta though, got to level 50 two times... then they wiped me... twice... so fuck them. But it's actually kinda fun considering its got fast combat and ITS IN SPACE.

Look at www.faceofmankind.com

Also www.gunbound.net , it's not a mmorpg but hell its fun and free.

www.mmorpg.com has a great mmorpg list

Neocron > all

I'm often loathe to post info about this game here, I do mention it in other threads but the reason I only give an url via PM is because I'm having a lot of fun in the game - it's also the one that I was referring to in the thread about too many factions.

The Realm Online (http://www.realmserver.com)

Anyhow, 'nuff said about it, these are NC forums afterall ;)

Take care,

Ahhh - I remember seeing this one a while back. The thing that would stop me playing it, is the fact that the graphics look like they were done on a BBC and everything seems, well, flat. I know gameplay counts for a lot, but it has to be at least pleasing to the eye - well, it does for me :)

Yup, the game was made 8 years ago using the SCI engine, as were most of Sierra's games, so it does have that cartoony 'king's quest' look to it :) It's going to be revamped to 16bit colour soon enough, the work's already underway for that from what I understand but it's seriously a tonne of work because all the artwork requires updating from a fixed 256 colour palette to the new 16bit palette ! Glad I'm not one of their artists :p

The reality is though (despite the graphics still being quite good considering how old the game is) that because the game is let down by poor graphics, the gameplay, and especially the storyline itself are top-notch features. With all the excitement going on there in the last few months since Norseman Games purchased it from CodeMasters (yeah I know I mentioned Sierra, there's been 4 or 5 different owners but the game itself has always found a buyer because it's a good money-spinner), I'd love to see a few folk from Reakktor get into it and see the benefits of truly interactive storyline so that Reakktor can then improve their own product by utilising techniques and practices that this relatively old game employs :)

Oh and BBC Micros could only handle 16 colours - 32 if you used a technique known as dappling (I didn't name it, I merely stumbled across it during development of a game I wrote for the beeb micro called 'Bouncing Boffins' when I was still at prep school) :D

Then again the DoomsDay project for the BBC Master (with those huge 12-inch laser discs) allowed photographic images to be displayed on the monitor, then again that did require specialist kit to make it all work !

Take care,

id been getting to the point of thinking of leaving the game recently, so i got SWG since id already tried most over MMORPG that i wanted, so bought it installed it, then after 5 minutes of playing i was wishing i was playing neocron again.

now im back to playing to all hours in the morning where i had actually cut the amount of time i spent playing right down

damn this game:mad:

Edit: hopefully none of my former clan mates will read this as ill look silly after saying i wouldnt touch SWG with a barge pole:lol:

Played Planetside, its a good game but theres no depth so its more a MMOFPS.

FoMK looks interesting and its supposed to be going into beta next year.

WoW looks like it could be very good from all the previews I've read.

WO looks tasty as well, the warhammer universe is rich an varied and Gameworkshop seem to be taking it very seriously, this could be the first mmorpg with buckets of content.

Aww :( I mean c'mon, a good game is a good game, I even reinstalled Neuromancer a few months ago and tried to complete it again ! That game's what ... 8 colours ?

Seriously, I think too many people are waiting for the next eye-candy laden game to come out, which is why so many games end up lacking in decent gameplay. It's all about aesthetics for the younger generation I guess... Give them a copy of LSL1 or Punch or any other classic game with less than 16 colours but excellent gameplay and they don't want to know

Why's it all about looks instead of gameplay these days ? Please help me out here, I'm asking because I'm not interested in many games that have been released recently simply because all the focus has been on looks rather than the game itself, and I'm not into spending money on a game that's going to be on a shelf gathering dust within two weeks !!

Take care (and don't take this personal, it's a generic observation of the younger generation),

Reefie

Part of the scheme when it comes to the video game industry is to push the power of our computers to get these superb graphics, excellent sound quality, awsome animations, superb AI, etc...

Is to force us to get better computers.

I personally like games that have VERY good graphics, the more realistic it looks, the happier I am.

But thats not all thats important to me, I still enjoy Quake II, which I only play for the mod Vortex.

I enjoy good gameplay just as much as the next man.

Soooooo many MMO games I wish to try..... Sooooo many non MMO games I wish to try... so little cash.

So far, Project Entropia, Jerrath, Neocron, Planetside.
