PMs deteriorating?

I dont think Im the only one that has problems with the mailbox
getting full, and Ive seen mods replacing peoples sigs with things
like "sig removed - empty your PM box" quite often. How about
having a feature that automaticly deletes PMs after a certain
time, and you could have a checkbox on the side to "lock" a PM
so it wont be deleted incase you have a PM that you want to
save? Also unread PMs would of course not be deleted either.
Maybe its something for the mods to look into as it will probably
save them some work as well.

Ok, I think you misunderstood me. Im talking about a feature so
that we dont have to clear those PMs all the time, It could be
done automaticly. The fact that I know about the PM sent items
doesnt make it less annoying to clear em.

Yeah, lets not improve anything or have progress because thats
just being lazy. If everyone were like you we would still be living
in caves.

Its a simple feature to add but it would remove some workload
for mods and we wouldnt lose longass PMs just because
someones box is full.

Maybe some more room for important PM's like the one's mod's send, so not matter how full your PM box you can alway's get the a PM from em..

I'm afraid it comes down to server space and the functionality supported by the board software. Everyone currently has a maximum of 200K each set aside for messages which should be more than enough and the boards simply don't support the features described in this thread.

I guarantee that I send and receive PMs far more than any of you and I have no problems ensuring that there's sufficient space available. ;)

yea but niddy you know that you've got to clean out your sent and receved PM's..

Most of the spa... I mean poster's here don't know that so they let their PM boxes clog up and don't understand why..

How about an option to KEEP sent messages? make it so that by default it's off.

As I said, we have no options open to us because the board doesn't support them. BTW, the community announcements and the forum rules inform people about PM boxes and how to keep them in good order. ;)

Contary to popular belief, many people never read the forum rules....


what about an automated Email sent to the forum user when their PM box reaches it's limit... though bet that not supported either....

Maybe a popup each time to enter the forum's that tell's you to clean up your PM box, or a splash page before the forum, so it don't even have to be within the system little bit of html worky stuff and there you go..
