How does one create a sig?

Ive noticed that some of your sigs are really quite nice, but i havent a toffee of an idea as to how you create them.

Could someone shed some light on which programs i could utilise, or point me to a tutorial for novices which explains how to create them and size them to the appropriate amount of pixels?

first, must aquire a pirated copy of photoshop. next, one must proceed to use one's artistic skills to create one's signiture of choice. then, one must go to www.hostmyimg.com and upload the image one created. finally, one must include the img's url in one's thread.
