[OT] microphone problems

i have just setup a laptop for speech recognition, however the microphone is registaring no sound. all the volumes are turned up (in recording and playback) and it is set as the primary input device.

i have run various programs including the windows built in sound recorder - and it records nothing at all. if i turn on mic boost in the mic's advanced options on the advanced volume control i get static / crackle sounds instead of nothing, but it still doesnt registar any sound.

thanks in advance for any suggestions

i wish i could help ya but i have no clue, maybe youre mic is yust broke o_O

when the prog is ruunning check that it has not tured your mik off and that the program has the mik swiched on.

That was gonna be my suggestion - that's the only thing I have ever found wrong in the past.
