Processor is actually fine, I believe. But sort out the RAM. If you're as rich as you say, go for a gig.

See if your motherboard can support Corsair XMS DDR SDRAM PC-3200. It's somewhat expensive, but a friend put 2x256MB sticks in... and my god, his computer runs like a dream. And this is on an AthlonXP1700+.

I'm using 512megs of Corsair XMS DDR 2700 and it does indeed rock :)

I'd definitely say memory first.

But then I'm a part buying junkie and I'm not allowed near tech parts websites or I end upgrading something.

First upgrade the ram. Give it one gig. Then ifu can afford it get a new CPU. 2.5 gigs would be fine. Finally if u dont have one already, grab a new Soundcard. I bought an Audigy 1 bulk for 35 euros. Combine it with a good speaker system (2.1 creative inspire rocks for its price) and ur set!!!!

IMHO

512mb RAM (minimum - 1024 if poss)
RADEON? *shudders* well if you like ATI i guess no need to update there
2.5ghz minimum (AMD > Intel :p)
HDD is ok unless you really abuse it (hell i somehow live on a 40gb :p)
cdrw / dvd combo drive will set ya back like £40 lol - worth doin IMHO

:Edit: priority - RAM then processor (then connection if you have 56k). as long as the hdd has enough spare space to through files around its all good there.

im a hdd abuser :p

but i thought that 170gig on a gaming comp would be "OK"

enough for the mp3s & games :p

i store my movies and that shite on the server =)

but im still wondering if i really need DVD on this comp...as i got it on my other comp...

anyone know if any companies are planning on releasing games on DVD discs?

Upgrade Ram first, if you can afford it upgrade you're CPU but chances are you'd have to get a new mobo too. Just get a barebone and use you're HDD, Vidcard, and whatever you want to bring over from your old computer.
