Thats RAM as in Random Access Memory, not sheep Eggs!

Anyway, when I went and bought my new mobo, at the AMD shoppe, the dude there was like "no, 3100 wont work wiv ur 2200+ cpu n 133DDR FSB n00b" so I went wiv the 2100 (expensive, shoulda got it elsewhere, 512 for the price of 256 :( )

Anyway, I went to crucial just now, and went thru AOpen-Mobo-Mymobo, and it lists 3200 RAM as compatible wiv my system.

512MB DDR PC3200

DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 5ns • 2.5V • 64Meg x 64

So, my question!! rawr

Its 3200 really compatible, will I get a performance increase by using 3200, or will it run as slow as the 2100 due to the mobo/ram/cpu combo I already have, or should I just stick with 2100 and get a 512 (I hate hearing my hard drive chew itself up with only 256 :-/)

get it anyway, future proofing is always good

true, cant be too much futureproofed, but I'm not planning any upgrades (except PSU heh) for another 3 years, maybe 2, depending on if my system specs can keep up (I was using an intel celeron 800 & 2xAGP for the past couple of years), so by the time I upgrade next, 3200 should be out of date anyhow, and we'll all be using 64Bit CPU's, one of they dual 64/32 ones.

try microdirect, they got some cool mobo's, and dont seem as... newbish as PC-World ;)

in a purrrfect world ram speed should match your fsb speed

but you aint gonna get a 2200 + to 400 mhz ... 333 is possible however :) ... and its always backward compatible and future proof etc

I don't see why there should be a problem if your RAM can run faster than your processor. It just means the RAM won't be used as fast as it can be, no big deal. What WILL boost your performance is if you get RAM with a CAS or CL of less than 3. Also if you get 400MHz RAM then it saves having to upgrade it if you upgrade your processor/mobo in future.
