more interested in using it for my capped tank.

Anyone out there tried to make it PvP viable using drugs, resist posions, anything really ? Cos I may try it ?

Why not just try it yourself and find out? That's pretty much the easiest way.

Don't expect anyone to just jump forward and make a capped gentank with all the bells and whistles just for you because you asked.

And yes, Mc, its rather unreasonable to just pop up and ask about specializing with Kami Chips. For one, there's been a few threads about this ( search tool is your friend! ) and even they seem to agree its only for a strong boost in the leveling process or hunting (firemobs or xray mobs only, since with the kami chips, warbots or force-using mobs like Ceres Mutants are painful to the point of being offlimits).


There was one thread, though, about an hybrid going to town with an Psycho Kami chip, and even that's a bit risky. Still, as hybrid, he has the holy buffs to buffer the pain.

Nothing about a Tank using Kami Chips - considering that resists are their whole life, and since nearly all of PvP is base Pierce or base Energy, he's fucked right from the gate.

I don't think I would want to slog through using a Kami chip. They' *only* be viable if you used very specific armor and ridiculously overspecced resist force and resist energy.

And why bother, when it'd be so much easier and more reasonable to just go the straight, conventional route and spread your resists around for PvP. I assumed TC was asking for a PvP setup since that'd be the end result for a GenTank.

In short :

Kamis - only useful for leveling FAST and on specific mobs that don't hit your weaknesses.


edit: and also, drugs aren't that good to use in real PvP - battles. They run out at the wrong time. Perhaps in controlled 1 vs 1 or something duels. And even then, the choice of resist drugs, isnt good - only one for energy, and only one (sucky) for force.

Considering in your sig who have links to about 8 ideas that *you* think are good or in your interest why can others not ask for an idea on what a setup would be?

Demon, you have to say what kind of spy setup. Then get ready to be ridiculed and egged on for saying pistol spy with pistol Kami. Pistol Spy with a Kami in isn't a Kami, its a paper poster begging for a swat.


Now, a spy sniper with a Rifle Kami in is something to be feared, really. Range is your friend as a sniper, do your best not to be hit.

Use Sniper Rifles and Laser Rifles, and perhaps even Plasma Rifles, to your advantage. Never let them get close.

As a Spy, you won't even have the chance to oversepc to defend against the resist penalites, but you can cover in other directions - Up your ATH to undreamed of heights, or make your resist fire/poison solid. Don't bother upping your CON xray resist - use the spy PA for that.

edit -ah, brainport threads " in my interest"? I daresay, no, they're in everyone's interest. I've been Monk, Spy, GenTank, so what I think could add some real variety or depth to the game. And besides, how do you even figure it would be soley in my interest? Have you even read them? How are they in my interest?

T-X i think a few tanks on saturn tried it but they found the lack of energy resist fucked them up, its not so bad for a spy as they are ranged but HL will totally fuck your health up.

can you overspec the CAP of 114 resist to compensate ?

it might make the tank unviable on his own but with a ppu straped to his back, its could be a nice combo

whats the H-C cap ? 255 ?

you can over spec it, but your gonna lose out on other areas of resist, and without a PPU to wipe you ass after you, your gonna go down

I agree with Heavyporker, as its your character and you play slightly differently to anyone else.

so while it suits one style of play, it may not suit yours.

PS: if anything, YOU should be banned for flaming like that.

Overcap compensation, yes it would probably work...

My recommendation is that you don't try this though, while it does benefit you in terms of extra HC, it doesn't particularly overcome the defencive weakness you put yourself in.

Of course there ARE some viable setups with Kamis, but you will have to be real careful.

It's a gamble man, but then, it wouldn't be named Kamikaze if it wasn't :p

i have tested it

my tank takes with kami in and holy shelter the double amount of damage he takes w/o buffs and kami out.

and no the accuracy bonus is NOT worth it

u WILL get raped by any kind of nrg attack with a kami in, i know this for a fact because i play a kami chiped APU atm, max 3 hls and i'm down (4-5 with holy buffs), lib or any other pierce weapon just tears right through me, BUT as a reward i get an insane dmgoutput (capping nearly every spell w/o any buff or pa, except HAB[freq of 20 instead of 21]), can runcast every direct attackspell (HL/FA) with ease AND got capped psipool

imho it isn't worth for a tank or PE (except for lvling), but it is for a monk or a spy (if u know what u r doing)


P.S.: @heavyporker: do NOT underestimate a kami pistol spy, i know one (a clanm8) and he owns with it

all in all, if u know what u r doing, u can make nearly any kami setup viable (haven't tried melee spy though :wtf: :lol: :D )
