I know this should go in one the help places but not as many ppl go there and I rly need help. And yes i thought this might be a common problem so i did the search and found nothing. So here we go.

I am running a Pentium 4 1.7 Ghz Dell. 512 MB RAM. Windows XP (HOME EDITION). and a GeForce FX 5200 UTLRA.

So anyways. When I open up the luncher and click play nc or whatever. My comp starts to go slower and slower until it freezes then goes back to normal. And the NC launcher just sits there. As if it was about to launch the game. But it doesnt launch. I checked the files and it froze on that to. It did once gimme somting about slave.exe located in c:\windows\slave.exe

0_o wtf?

ok anyways... someone plz help me out. DM me or something.
O ya, and running client.exe works fine. Sooo this is beyond me =/ I CANT LIVE WITHOUT MY NC. PLZ HELP

I believe c:\windows\slave.exe is some kinda filthy windows virus.

I dunno tho, but I believe ive seen this in the past and its not supposed to be there. Virus scan maybe?

i tried scanning it with avast (i hear avast sucks?). I got a message that said. Error: During Opening ATL dialog. Error number:2. now wtf that meens i have no clue. And I cant delete the bastard either. I get that write protected garbage.

EDIT/ADDITION: I also found another exe in the same dir with the same icon named fix.exe. dunno if that helps or not. But just an observation.

ok it's a bad guy.

goto http://housecall.trendmicro.com , it's a free online virus scan
that WORKS and i use it once a month or when i'm suspicious.

also, get spybot - search and destroy to get rid of adaware programs
taking up resources on your system.

After killing that nasty virus shat, get yourself to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
Then download all the security fixes.

Then bag yourself a Firewall.
One you can try is..
http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/

Then, you may have to re-install neocron if the virus checker said any of your neocron files were infected.
