I need some help with my network.
Basiclly i have 3 comps running on the network,
we try to launch the game on all three but it wont work all
the time.
Maby once in 10-15 times we try, it will work if that. Otherwise
we just sync out.
Any ideas. They all work when we log on by ourselves, even if two of us are on but not three.
Any ideas will be great. thx.

waht connection type to the internet?
DSL?
Cable?
dial-up?:p
etc.

what router?
Westel?
Cisco?
etc.

I used a westel for my DSL and had kinda same issue... I just configured each PC to use different local port... i.e:
http://neocron.jafc.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80993
but having it on seperate PC's

Now i have a Cisco and have no issues (assuming it was a NAT issue??)

ok..

its a adsl connection. all three are on a hub and use ics
from the main one to connect to the net.

we have tried the localport idea but it does not make
a difference.

hmm...
I'll think about it on the way home. I dont know why u have to use ics tho.
the phone line should go into your router, then the CAT5 should go to your switch/hub and then branch out from the switch or hub to your PC's. I dont know your ISP and what equipment you use but that is the most common/easiest way (i know there are others). Some ISP's require the MAC address of the PC that will be using the high-speed access... did yours?

Can all three browse teh internet at teh same time? Like if you three tried to DL a file at teh same time, would it work. not just going to yahoo or something.

I will think about it on the way home, but i am sure someone will know this off the top of their head and p[ost b4 i get home. This is a very smart community:)

GL and all see what i can come up with,

Comp A. is connected to the phone line using a adsl modem
Comp B & C is connected to Comp A. through the hub, and they connect to the internet using ICS.
There is no problem using the net or downloading files at
the same time.
Just when we all try to run Neocron.
The thing is somethimes it will work, but it is very rare that it will.

Are you able to play any multiplayer game (even a LAN based FPS like Quake) on all PCs at the same time?

In other words is it only NC you have this problem with?

Do a search on the forums, there is a line you put into the INI to have each client use a different port. I forget what it is. If you have a router you shouldn't have that issue though (AFAIK).

Beyond that, if you all play on the same server you will all need your own account, as only one character per server per account can be on at any given time.

Easy to solve!

Just enter the following line in the neocron.ini

LOCALPORT = "XXXX"

Set the XXXX to various numbers on the different computers and it will work.
I tried 6000, 6002 and 6007 and it worked fine.

I know of the LOCALPORT thing i have tried it
but no luck.

Red Alert and Battlefield 1942 has worked
but it was only with 2 computers now we want to try 3.

Hmm, well first off if you're running a network geared toward
gaming and online use - why you using a hub? Grab a Linksys
switch, you'll have zero collisions and since they talk to each
other via MAC address instead of IP, no configurations needed.
Think if it as a very smart hub.

Yes you can be logged on with the same account on different servers at the same time.

I had the same problem..Linking PC's togehter since 1 machine has dual netowrk card , using microsoft to share connections and all.

I biught a Router ... This has built in firewall and allows 4 pc's at any time. Also means that main machine does not have to be on....Massive difference in performance too.

They cost about £40.00 and will also prevent those popup coming through too...Look into it
