View Full Version : Stuff Uranus, Pluto Needs A Wipe
I have played on Pluto since the day it lived, I have never rerolled my character. However, I feel it is time that we needed a new server and since Pluto has the lowest number playing on it, it is that server that we need to sacrifice.
Neptune would be nice.....

I dunno, lets test that theory.
They wipe Pluto or any other server and id think 80% of that servers population would leave the game completely and the other 20% would be REALLY pissed off.

If pluto became Neptune a lot of people wouldn't be annoyed a lot of players would come back to play.
I second Gentys motion to transform Pluto into Neptune.
i'm against server wipes. HOWEVER... if this was to become the dream which is NEPTUNE. then i'd be all for it. as a complete fresh start would be a good thing.

I don't suppose I really am allowed an oppinion, even with my PE there being capped, he isn't tooled up and isn't played all that often, so.... this shouldn't really carry much weight, however...I'd like the concept of Pluto becoming neptune.
Then, rather than the "pluto pwns you" hot air that means nothing, they'd actually have a some what real argument for saying they're better.

Actually...I do....considering all the numbers of people who have left saying they would be back for neptune or doy.

I wouldnt mind having pluto whiped and having Neptune created there, even tho I have multiple MC5s, half a dozen good judges and liberators, 4 slot rolh, capped char etc. The sacrifice would surely be worth it.

Ok, so we've heard from the people who know the game micron by micron, and who could cap a new character in under two days, but what about everybody else? Personally I've put an ENORMOUS amount of work into my character to get him to where he is today (Have you any idea how hard it is getting an MC5 chip when you're not in a Clan? And don't say "Join a Clan then", that's not the point here). If my months of hard work were deleted, personally I would respond in kind and delete my account, and so would a large number of other people. There is no way I would start again from scratch.
What this would do is create an even bigger gulf between the casual players and the obsessives, driving the casuals away. And once all the obsessives get bored of killing each other again, what then? They'll start leaving yet again.
All a server wipe would do in the long run is hasten the death of Pluto, not prevent it.
i would accpet Pluto eing transformed Neptune if i got to keep my charecters or at least my weapons, all they would have to do is alter the server not start a new one o_0

The only real way to cater for everyone in that instance is to announce the change over after a set time. This would allow other players to powerlevel to get to a good level on the server.
That would mean only the people who do not want to play on the hardcore server (vs those who don't want to loose thier stuff) would be against it.

In a year I have never had a capped char and i still have lots to learn. Just for the record.

I am not sure how you tie the two together. A large portion of the playerbase wanted Neptune (and many quit because it did not exist).
You are hardly in the minority, it looks like Pluto is 50/50 split on the issue (as similar polls have shown before).
Btw, I also have never had a capped character and I'm about as casual gamer as they come. I am still trying to get parts for rare spells and no MC5 chip yet so I am aware of what is involved.

The only thing about taking away pluto is its the only 1 char server thats not PVP specialized. On the other hand Saturn and Uranus are both similar 4 character servers... neither of which are near half capacity... Hmm... Can servers be merged?
pluto is pvp specialised, where do u think fight night came from u tit o_O oh i think your getting confused saturn is PK specialised lol

uhh, killin pluto sucks. if there is one server removed then it have to be a 4 char server.
there whould be a few options i like.
kill uranus - i play Pluto
kill saturn - i dont care
kill uranus/saturn for neptun - nep would be it.....!!!!!
you cant kill pluto because some ppl like the onchar but LE policy ...

Yes, it'd have to be a 4char server that gets wiped, mainly becuse, think of it this way...
Economically, it makes fucking perfect sense to wipe a 4char and make it 1char Neputune - less storage space needed to store info PLUS you get ppl back that want Neptune... its win-win for KK, so yes, its gonna be Saturn or Uranus that goes down if the situation EVER arises that a server has to change over to Neptune.
I don't want Pluto converted to Neptune. I like my LE, thanks.
I don't want Pluto wiped. Unlike most, I've been playing since day one and have yet to cap my first character. I play for fun, not to dominate an aspect of gameplay.
If you're bored, leave. Play another game. Play on another server. Come back when you're not bored.
And if you think Pluto's really a one-character server, I've got news for you - the clans that dominate have common accounts to service their tradeskill needs. All converting Pluto to Neptune will do is make it harder on those of us who don't use alts for our needs...
Pluto should stay as it is simply because its the only english 1 slotted server.. whipe a 4 slot server because theres 2 of em:rolleyes:

70% or 80 % of the people that play Neocron don't even post regularly on this forum....
What, wipe Pluto because a small vocal minority wants Neptune?
KK would lose more people to that, than they would gain.
There's probably 50 to 75 people that would come back and play for a month or two, get bored and quit again.
Meanwhile, I bet a hundred or more would quit after getting all their time, effort and hard work wiped on Pluto, I know I would...
I used to think Pluto was a good idea, not anymore, with what a small vocal minority has in mind for it...
This game needs more people, plain and simple, till then, Neptune should stay on the back burner...
Also, if there's going to be any kind of official poll it needs to be on the Neocron Launcher, to see what the real playerbase thinks and wants.....
You don't have to wipe char info and belongings to change rulesets. =/
One patch can eliminate safezones and LE's - why wipe?

Ok, the scenario is this: Pluto is completely reset. All items and characters deleted, everyone starts from scratch. The global rules are also altered to remove safezones, LEs etc to hange Pluto into Neptune. What would happen?
1) A large portion of the playerbase would leave on the spot, not wanting to play on a pure PvP server and/or unwilling to rebuild everything they had previously.
2) There would be an influx of players attracted by the pure PvP side.
Time passes.
3) The people attracted in point 2 get bored of playing against the same faces day in, day out, and begin to leave (Again).
Final result: Pluto is in exactly the same position with it's declining population.
At best, it will only prolong Pluto's decline for a few months. At worst, it will annihilate the server's population a lot more quickly than if it were left as it is. Which way it goes depends entirely on whether the leaving players are out-numbered by the returning players.
Wiping the server for no good reason or turning Pluto into Neptune is a huge risk, and have a large chance of blowing up in KK's face. Either would be a desperation move, and might as well be the death-knell for Neocron, because KK are too small a company to be able to afford to lose swathes of it's player-base, and they won't risk it unless things have reached the point where they have very little left to lose.

Bingo.
Neocron, like it or not, is dying. People have done everything to death, and are starting to wander away through boredom. If KK can get a new publisher and release DoY for Christmas (IE The best way to get a large influx of new players) it might be salvagable (With the new subs money KK can hire people to develop content rather than relying on dedicated volunteers) and revitalise the game. There is a point where not even a re-release will help though, so KK need to do something soon.
By turning Pluto into Neptune, KK would be risking their current playerbase, and therefore risking accellerating the death process of the game. They are very unlikely to do that unless things are so dire it doesn't really matter any more if they lose the subscriptions.
If they can somehow turn things around and get NC back on it's feet, I would say leave Pluto alone and open Neptune as a new server. Either way there's no point even considering replacing Pluto with Neptune.
If neocron is dying.. then why are you still playing? Doesn't seem like it is dying to me. I still enjoy it.
If neocron is going to die anyway (according to you) then it better to change to stop that then rather face entropy.

I'm not. I'm playing SWG on the Eclipse server, waiting for the euro servers to open on Nov 7th. Oh, I log into Pluto every now and again because my subscription hasn't run out yet, but it's usually only to see what Callash has added, or to check out new parts of the storyline.

A much better (and safer) option for KK to take would be a rerelease with a new publisher, because it doesn't threaten their existing income. If that fails to materialise NOTHING is going to prevent Neocron's demise and they'll have nothing to lose, so might as well try it. Like I said, it'd be a desperation move.
